Pulpit never ran on grass, but he was a good grass sire - and he’s passed that on to Tapit, and now Constitution

Of course I’m following HAP, who’s has a second and a third in his two turf runners. I’ve always thought he’d be a good turf sire (it’s very early, of course)

Even though Vekoma and Complexity have garnered the most kudos - rightly so- I think by the end of the year we’re going to see some of the other first crop sires take flight.

i think most of the currently slow ones will get better as the distances grow. imho from the ones with good expectations, the only ones that were supposed to be having some good runners already and aren't are McKinzie and Improbable.

I agree, and they’re only slow in terms of winners (they’ve had on the board finishes/promising runs). We’ll see it start to take shape when we start getting more 6F and longer and fewer 5 1/2F races

Phantom Boss now has 4 winners from 5 starters. Admittedly a small sample, but a pretty impressive strike rate.

Admire Mars(JPN)(Daiwa Major) sired his 4th JRA winner, as his 2yo filly Embroidery(JPN)[o/o Rottenmeier(JPN) by Kurofune(USA)] broke her maiden at second ask by 7 length in a 2yo track record at Niigata R1 1800m turf on July 27th 2024.
It's a good start for the Shadai resident first-season sire!!

Tower of London(JPN)(Raven's Pass) got off to a good start, too, siring his fourth JRA winner today.
His 2yo colt Arlington Row(JPN) [o/o Yumeno Tokimeki(JPN) by Marvelous Sunday(JPN)] broke his maiden at second ask in a 2yo track record in Niigata R1 1400m turf.

Honor A.P. had another winner today when Shootersgottashoot won his debut at Monmouth ...

I’m so happy, and this on top of a colt who ran yesterday at the Spa who I think will be very good (on dirt, though he ran well on the turf) in Spurgeon

All 3 of his stakes winners have been on different surfaces as well. I'm happy for Airdrie, hopefully they can keep him. They couldn't keep Harlan's Holiday.

I'm not so thrilled with the precociousness of a stallion.
But it will be interesting to see which Japanese stallion will take out the best freshman sire title this year.
Nadal(USA) will be up there, too.
2yo races are becoming more and more important even in Japan.

Game Winner off the Scheid with Gaming at Del Mar for Baffert/Pegram. Big bruising dark bay colt looks a lot like his dad, but I couldn't see if he paddled as much as he stayed on his wrong lead most of the stretch. :)
I ran marathons. I saw the Taj Mahal by Moonlight. I drove Highway 1 in a convertible. I petted Zenyatta.

Hopefully Rank isn’t getting a complex from finishing behind Getaway Car and Gaming, lol

Next time!

Race came up fast, I believe…

MRH (and me) had Authentic Spirit who showed good speed but faded to sixth. Owners are already chucking him out.
