I'm not sure if this completely belongs here, but something about this ones head made me question if I was browsing tb's or arabians.

I/M x Meal Ticket, hip 87 in the Saratoga sale.

And this one; I don't know what it is, but my brain just goes ? looking at her.

Hip 178, Omaha Beach x Summer Fling

And this one; I still don't know what it is, the head?

i think it's that the head looks super long and flat. and then the front pasterns are long and in a weird angle and the back pasterns are short and super upright.

i'll post the other Saratoga fuglies once they post most of the photos, easier to do all of them at once  but i'll give you guys some spoilers of the Top3 Fugliest so far.

those front pasterns are longer than my life expectancy.

finally a worthy opponent for Into Mischief!

Aesthetically, I like a head that shows some of the TB's ancestral Arabian fineness. A fine-boned, dished head doesn't affect soundness or athletic ability, so I appreciate the lovely head on that yearling.

I don't mind a more refined head either. # 206 looks like he has an overbte, though!
I ran marathons. I saw the Taj Mahal by Moonlight. I drove Highway 1 in a convertible. I petted Zenyatta.

If they’re so ugly, why did they sell for such high prices?

good pages & i guess people just hope they can hold up long enough to secure a stallion deal (aka 3 starts, G1p). these photos are broken now but if you were to look at the Into Mischief's that sold last year you'd see many worse ones going for similar price tags.

Hip #235 is inbred 3x2 to Ghostzapper. Not a recipe for durability.

I get it….this is what racing has become, just the means to an end (breeding)

This is an….interesting thread. Half these yearlings look ok to me. I’m sure if we saw photos of NFL players when they were in 7th grade, we wouldn’t find much to recommend them either.

Which sale,Keeneland?

Honestly the level of inbreeding in some of these horses is gross

Haha I actually agree with you Gemini, a portion of these yearlings are actually nice horses. Hip 235, the grey Justify, I really like aside from being a tiny bit over on the left knee.
Lets not forget the poor mess that was the Medaglia d'Oro X Leslie's Lady colt. Poor guy never even got named.

Agreed. Some of it just seems mean-spirited; I'm no expert but I really don't find too many of these unattractive.

There was an American pharoah filly a few years ago who would've fit into this thread. She was so straight in the rear and bulky she reminded me of some halter bred quarter horses

This is another one I don't quite get? Overall 206 is a nice filly. Pasterns are a bit long, and she's a tiny bit over in the knee, but overall a nice set of front legs? She's posty behind and has a bit of a small shoulder (balance is really important to buyers). Her real value is as a broodmare prospect, and she should be able to do that job just fine.

792 is much more of a mess. Small clubby feet, upright in the pasterns, and a bit behind at the knee (a far worse problem than being over at the knee). There's also some swelling on the dorsal aspect of the fetlock on the left front that is concerning, you'd really need to see the x rays on that one. Looks like he might toe out a touch in the right as well.

Edit: hip 2279 that you posted in the other thread is way worse than 206, pasterns suck and he's stocked up in the right : /

Ewww :? Why are they doing this? Are there people interested in buying such an inbreed horse?

Well 235 didn't sell at 500k so that's good. You should see Rich Strikes pedigree his at least to me is vomit inducing the amount of inbreeding he's got
