That makes sense why I never heard of him. He hadn't ran any horses in 2024 and I didn't check previous results. The owner hadn't ever had any starters.Missbeholder wrote: ↑Thu Apr 18, 2024 6:00 pmSince the claim was voided, it's probably a moot point, but I did read in a Facebook post that this unknown trainer and owner are Puerto Rican horsemen. I think the Facebook post I saw said that the trainer hadn't started any horses here on the mainland since 2018. I'll never be able to find that post to confirm that, but that's what I remember reading.Flanders wrote: ↑Thu Apr 18, 2024 6:24 pmThat makes sense why I never heard of him. Maybe I'm being guilty of some stereotyping here, but I was kind of surprised that Puerto Rican connections (who haven't started a horse in the contiguous US in 6 years)would come to Keeneland and drop a claim in for $100K! Maybe it has something to do with who his full brother is, but he certainly has shown no signs yet of living up to that pedigree. Then again, I have no idea what happens in Puerto Rico, except that their reputation in horse care and treatment is considerably less than stellar!
I guess it wouldn't really surprise me, if they want the horse that badly, to hear that they negotiated a private sale after the claim was voided. It was just a shoe issue, I guess. I hope not, for Olivier's sake.

Looks like 2018 & 2019. He really hasn't trained much ever, active from 2005-2023. With many years of no starters, only 215 starters total and almost half that coming the first 2 years. The owner had bought some mares in 2023 & 2024. So maybe trying to acquire a stallion to breed to his growing broodmare band?Missbeholder wrote: ↑Thu Apr 18, 2024 6:42 pmI think the Facebook post I saw said that the trainer hadn't started any horses here on the mainland since 2018. He was entered in the Keeneland Horses of Racing Age sale so maybe they just let him go through that. I know some of the owners wouldn't care but maybe Jane Lyon does.

VLEXINGTON, Ky. – They’re known at the moment mainly by their family connections – Scylla, full sister to classic-placed, multiple graded stakes winner Tacitus, and Loved, half-sister to multiple Grade 1 winner Maxfield. But on Friday, they’ll try to add “graded stakes winner” to their own descriptions, outright, as they go in the Grade 3, $300,000 Doubledogdare Stakes at Keeneland.

Raging Sea is well-bred, too. She's a half to SP Welcoming, and her 3rd dam is Weekend Surprise, the dam of A.P Indy and Summer Squall.sweettalk wrote: ↑Sat Apr 20, 2024 12:30 pmScylla third, Loved fourth, behind Raging Sea and Hidden Connection.Starine wrote: ↑Thu Apr 18, 2024 7:58 pm Scylla, Loved look to make a name for themselves in the Doubledogdare

Dreamaway, 2yof (Flameaway - Dream Dancing, by Tapit) won her debut over the boys at Keeneland. Her dam is a G1SW. Her 3rd dam is CH/MG1 Beautiful Pleasure. And she is a 3rd generation homebred for John Oxley who bought Beautiful Pleasure as a 2yo.
She is already really light grey for just being 2.

does anyone know what Into Amore (Into Mischief - Embellish the Lace) looked like as a yearling? i didn't know she had RNA'd for so "cheap" ($295,000) until a TDN article pointed that out. you'd expect much more from an Into Mischief out of a G1w winning mare, no...? i could only find stuff for her year older full sister on Twitter. that sister sold for $1,250,000 the year prior, so that kinda tells me she either looked... too Into Mischief-y... or had a shitty vetting.
and she was also the only Embellish the Lace foal to not sell well.
