Karakontie's Stud Fee Rises to $15,000 at Gainesway

Kinda surprised they chose to raise his fee. I mean I would consider him a successful sire thus far in his career.

If they think they can raise Always Dreaming's fee based on Saudi Crown, they need to put the crackpipe down. He hasn't sired any other stakes horses in 2023. Also strange that they raised Global Campaign back to 12.5k going into his 4th year at stud, he had stood for that fee in 2021 & 2022. All 2023 stallions are still on the roster (at this point). Last year they had announced Tourist as a TBD for 2023 and he was sold about a month later. The fee for top 10 freshman sire Audible and top 12 second-crop sire Always Dreaming will be announced at a later date based on results in the coming month.
Always Dreaming - $5,000 ($10,000)
Audible - $15,000 ($25,000)

I hope that some of his babies will be introduced to Japan in the future, too.

I thought it'd be interesting to look at the stallions standing for 100k+ in the US and Europe for 2024 by sire line. I don't think I missed anyone but its possible, the EU ones weren't the easiest. 4 sirelines represented in the US and only 2 in the EU. I didn't want to make it super messy, so its stallion line, that stallion's son(s) and then their descendants. I did note beside stallion son(s) if they had more than 1 son represented.

Any other sire lines fetching that kind of price?Flanders wrote: ↑Fri Nov 17, 2023 10:13 am I thought it'd be interesting to look at the stallions standing for 100k+ in the US and Europe for 2024 by sire line. I didn't do them cause Australia and New Zealand also use dollars, the $ sign and the conversion rate is really different. So because they use $ I didn't feel like I could put them on the same list. Every horse on the above list is 100k+ USD. If I do Australia and New Zealand stallions that have local stud fees of 100k+, they aren't 100k+ USD(as all the above are). Its sooooo Danehill in Australia, only 3 aren't from his line, but he wasn't represented yet. New Zealand and Japan's only had 1 representative each but are both from the Turn-To line. I thought that was going back one generation too many, so Hail To Reason and Sir Gaylord both get on the list.
Japan I don't know if they even announced their 2024 fees or where to find them, I can only find 2023 fees but they only had one in 2023 that was over 100k USD.
All fees are 2023 on this list. 100k AUD = 65k USD; 100k NZD = 60k USD; ~¥14,950,000 = 100k USD
Hail To Reason:(3 through 2 sons)
Halo:
----Contrail - ¥15,000,000 (Japan)
----Suave Richard - ¥20,000,000 (Japan)
Roberto:
----Epiphaneia - ¥15,000,000 (Japan)
Mr. Prospector:(1 through 1 son, new)
Machiavellian:
----Anamoe - $121,000 (Australia)
Northern Dancer:(6 through 2 sons, 1 new)
Danzig:(2 sons, 1 new)
----Exceed and Excel - $132,000 (Australia)
----Extreme Choice - $275,000 (Australia)
----Fastnet Rock - $110,000 (Australia)
----I Am Invincible - $302,500 (Australia)
----Snitzel - $247,500 (Australia)
Fairy King:(1 through 1 son)
----Zoustar - $220,000 (Australia)
Sir Gaylord:(1 through 1 son)
Sir Ivor:
Savabeel - $100,000 (New Zealand)
Edit: Japanese stud fees are now 2024 and there are 3 stallions. With 2 new additions from the Hail To Reason line through Halo.

His mares bred had dropped off a lot in his 2nd year, though he wasn't that popular in his first year either.

Probably best to go Private Fee and work with breeders than have to slash his stud fee for everyone to see.

I've just looked into his covering records in 2022 and his mares' producing records in 2023.
He covered 108 mares in 2022.
His ''live foal rate'' (live foals / number of mares covered) was less than 40%.

Bummer. They havent had great luck with their Irish miler purchases the last couple years. Siskin’s books have been surprisingly small for a new stallion, though I know he had a setback his first season there. But his numbers have still been in the double digits since then.

Yes.
