There’s a dispersal sale for McKenna Thoroughbreds for some of their broodmares online coming up. No reserves on any of the horses…

There are no reserves but the starting bid is 1k so that is higher than a kill buyer would want to go.Le Beau Bai wrote: ↑Mon Jul 31, 2023 2:40 pm There’s a dispersal sale for McKenna Thoroughbreds for some of their broodmares online coming up. No reserves on any of the horses…

There are plenty of sales were they can get horses for well under that price to fill their trucks. I saw a video about the one "loose horse" auction in Montana and the person tried to say kill buyers don't go there but there is no way. They sell 500 horses in like 4 hours. Like they tried to make the auction seem like a happy thing and they were bragging about buying a horse for $25. It was just sad to me. A lot sold for way more than a kill buyer would pay but what about all the other ones? Like they were running through mares with foals at their sides selling for around $700. I hated the video.

We have the same issue with New Forest, Welsh and Dartmoor ponies here in the UK. You can pick them up so cheap, at one point you could get a Dartmoor pony for about £10! Which is about $12 according to Google.
They have had no value other than meat, it used to be that the colts that didn’t sell where taken out the back of the sale and shot because they aren’t worth putting back out on the moors, it’s only the mares they value for breeding.

Sariska the 2009 Epsom Oaks/Irish Oaks winner, was pensioned sometime in the past couple years. Her youngest foal is a 2yo filly.

No pics of yearling at the moment. Its midwinter here so any yearling pics would happen once they lose their winter coats. I think from memory they don't want to sell her so maybe not even then

Another nice mating with Snitzel. Hope she gets in foal this time. Looking forward to the offspring. AT $275K stud fee that's more than Tapit or American Pharoah, isn't it?
I have never seen a photo of the filly she had by Pierro?

His stud fee is Australian dollars so there are 5 (6 if you count Gun Runner whose fee is private) that stand for more than him in the US. American Pharoah hasn't stood for anywhere near that for alongtime, he was only 60k this year.

Flanders, thanks for the photos and also the stud fee info.
Winx still looks like a powerhouse, although in personality, very mellow vibe.
You guys do a good job keeping up with all this!

I'm surprised they are selling the filly when Winx doesn't have any others at this point. Its going to be an interesting auction though to see who wants her and how high she goes.RugbyGirl wrote: ↑Sun Sep 17, 2023 5:11 amBREAKING NEWS announced tonight the Pierro-Winx Yearling filly will be offered at auction next year!Squeaky wrote: ↑Fri Aug 18, 2023 8:50 pmAny photos new photos of her baby ( now yearling?)RugbyGirl wrote: ↑Thu Aug 17, 2023 11:12 pm New Winx pic. That’s not a great sign. I know Maria and Electra Niarchos had an interest in horses, but I guess nit quite as much anymore? Sad to see these old racing supporters getting out of the game.HB1994 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 21, 2023 8:49 pm Wow. She is in foal to Sea The Stars.
