Modern Games is entire.BaroqueAgain1 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 05, 2022 3:25 pm Left hind leg injury, from the on-track vet.
Modern Games is very good, but my reaction is kind of 'meh.' Partly because he's owned by Godolphin, whose owner is apparently a horrible father and husband. And partly because he's a gelding, which takes away some of my enjoyment of watching a horse run. I like to follow horses, and then see how their offspring run. When you've followed racing as long as I have, being able to observe generations is a big part of the pleasure.
I like the trainer and jockey, but it's sometimes very hard to root for Godolphin.

Modern Games is an entire.
Oops.
Well, I'm glad to be corrected. He's by Dubawi, so I'm really pleased that we will get to see if he can carry on his sire's (and late, great grandsire's) bloodline.
Thanks.

I can't pick one in the Distaff. Best field of the day. I'd be happy with any one of them winning.

It is definitely "fucken wimdy" at Keeneland.

Safe to say Curlin will get a third BC winner?

Haha! Looking at the field from a non-gamblers perspective, there's not a winner that I won't be happy with for one reason or another! I would love to see Shedaresthedevil go out on top; Malathaat or Clairiere for their respective dam's and after both of their seasons, it would be well earned; Peter Blum is easy for me to root for (especially as he's getting choked up being interviewed for Society!); and I would be very happy to see Nyquist sire a Distaff winner in Awake at Midnyte! And as someone who got into the sport because I enjoyed digging through pedigrees, I would love to see Distaff winning half-sisters in Blue Prize and Blue Stripe!
As for Nest, she's just been wonderful to watch this season. Love her for her rapidly developing pedigree as well!

Domestic Spending updates:
David Grening
@DRFGrening
Domestic Spending will be sent to Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital for evaluation. @TheRealChadCBr1 says issue unrelated to injury that sidelined him since last summer. Concern is over a potential pelvic injury.
Steve Byk

Press release forthcoming, but positive early news on Seth Klarman’s Domestic Spending, pulled up in Mile. Was transported back to barn and scanned with radiographs showing no fractures. Soft tissue injury suspected. Will be transported to @roodandriddle for further examination.

You're right, when they said there were two Oaks winners in the field my mind automatically went to her; ofc I forgot that Malathaat is the second Oaks winner.BaroqueAgain1 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 05, 2022 3:44 pm KatieK: "..I would love to see Shedaresthedevil go out on top..."

The Distaff may be delayed a bit until the horse ambulance returns to the track.

Goods news so far, hoping it stays that way!
Looking ahead to this race, I don't know how to choose between these Curlin fillies. They're all fantastic- Clairiere would help my wallet the most, Malathaat has been a fave for a while, and Nest would be a very worthy champion with a victory here.
