I was lucky enough to be able to watch many of the SS/EG match-ups on television.
Most TBs are competitive, but a few like SS show such fierceness in their drive to win that it leaves an indelible impression.

For the $100,000 Marie Krantz, Brad Cox has an intriguing South American import, Janelle Monae, a 5-year-old bred on Southern Hemisphere time who brings a 4-for-4 record, including three Group 1 turf wins, into Saturday’s contest at 1 1/16 miles.

“We’ll see, but she trains well. Looks like she can break and be in the mix early. She might be built better for longer distances,” Cox said.

I found it at https://twitter.com/SireWatch/status/14 ... 9126589440

It was interesting for me to see that Dosage Profile [4-3-9-0-0] and Center of Distribution [2.56] were already in use to evaluate horse's pedigree in his day, too.

I'm still wondering what [+980] means.

That's me. I learned so much while working in Japan. Excellent horsemen with an unmatched work ethic. It was pretty clear back then that Japan was in the process of building something spectacular. Zenya Yoshida had a vision. He was one of the great Industrialists of our time.

The runner-up in both the G1 Satsuki Sho (to Ishino Sunday) & G1 Kikuka Sho (to Dance in the Dark) might also be remembered as the sire of Asahi Rising(JPN) who finished 2nd in the 2006 G1 American Oaks (to Wait a While) at Hollywood Park.

May he rest in peace.

Hat Trick(JPN) sired his first stakes winner in Japan, when his US-bred 5yo Air Fanditha(USA)[ o/o Nokaze(USA) by Empire Maker(USA)] won the Listed Rakuyo Stakes 1600m turf at Hanshin on Feb 12th 2022. :D
He came flying from nowhere, like a son of Hat Trick. 8-) 8-)
Grade stakes next for him!

African Gold is also half to Dubai World Cup winner African Story. Blixen really is a dynamic broodmare, too bad her best sons are geldings.

@ Godolphin Dojo has just posted a pick of the 24yo mare Blixen(USA) who takes care of young broodmares now.

Dear tachyon and other users:
I joined this forum because I have always been a big fan of Sunday Silence and I am fascinated and thrilled to see how widely his influence has spread. Also so much about Japanese racing and breeding seems so right while so much about American racing and breeding seems so wrong. As an American, it's great to see my love for racing reignited by the Japanese. Thank you for everything you have posted here, it restores my faith in the love of horses.

Hello djacks211,
thank you very much four your kind words. :D
Sunday Silence is truly a great racehorse / stallion.
Japanese racing owes what it is now to Sunday Silence and everyone here understands it.
I wonder if the year 2021 was especially a memorable year for all Sunday Silence fans, as two of his descendants Loves Only You (Deep Impact) and Marche Lorraine (Orfevre / Stay Gold), scored much-awaited first BC victories.
I strongly hope that his influence will continue to spread throughout the world!!!

Is it the Japan Day in Riyadh?
No I wouldn't think so.
It's the Sunday Silence Day and no surprise. ;)
The Sunday Silence descendants just get the job done on the turf.
But I'm especially happy to see the Stay Gold-line beating European stayers. :D :D :D
And thanks Christophe Lemaire for the credible rides!!

Authority was impressive, and I also want to give some credit to his dam, Rosalind, daughter of the great Cesario. Cesario has made quite an impact with her offspring, a true 'blue hen' for Japanese breeding.
