Yep that's him. In the Insta video he looked black.

1. great pedigree
2. he looks good
3. two blue eyes
4. white over dark coat

I'd buy that for a dollar!

Yes--you can't really see the flaxen mane and tail in that photo.
I ran marathons. I saw the Taj Mahal by Moonlight. I drove Highway 1 in a convertible. I petted Zenyatta.

I don't recognize these handlers. Is it just because they're not in the usual uniform?

If you're referring to the handlers in the ring, they are not the usual handlers employed by Keeneland. These guys are the consignor's showmen. They are bringing the horses up to the ring, and then holding them there too, rather than handing them off to a Keeneland handler.

Seemed a bit underwhelming for the opening session, although I missed a few.

I agree about the sale- between the outs and the RNAs, barely selling 50% of catalog, seems not a good sign. I have always thought anyone that has a reserve set over a million is not thinking quite right. If someone wants to spend a million+ on a yearling, it seems foolish to deny them the opportunity. I bet there have been very few horses that have RNAed at that level that have gone on to prove themselves worth more than that. Owners always complain about how they can't make money, but then maybe they should rethink their plan of overpaying for yearlings, especially out of unproven stallions. I am not sure the whole yearling sale economic shift in late 70s and 80s did the industry any favors. However, at least the Kitten's Joys still somehow being treated like the ugly stepchildren of the yearling sales is consistent.

OK, that makes sense. Many thanks.

$750,000 to Yuji Hawegawa of Japan. Here is an article about the owner from last year: https://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing ... ique-bella Very possible he has similar hopes with this colt.
