I see that MG2W Quip has been entered in the sale as a racing or stallion prospect.

Honorable Dillon, He's Had Enough, and Atreides (sold to OK) are outs.

Honestly, by this time, it is pretty obvious whether or not they are pregnant if vets are checking with ultrasound or labwork. It would just make more sense to leave covering sire blank wouldn't it?
I think from a breeder's perspective it can be important information as to consider whether the reason she didn't take is due to fertility issues with the mare herself, or the stud (where a stud is known to have fertility issues for instance) or if it was just bad luck. I think it's also good to have that public info for anyone looking at breeding to that particular sire.

Cross-posting this from the 2019 Fasig-Tipton November Sale thread:

Just a reminder for Battle of Midway fans...this is from an October article.
But Battle of Midway’s saga, which appeared to be on an upward trajectory, came to a tragic end just three weeks later, when the 5-year-old sustained a fatal injury in a work at Santa Anita. His loss makes his handful of foals all the more intriguing. Battle of Midway’s two representatives in the fall catalogs are a weanling filly at the Fasig-Tipton November sale the evening of Nov. 5, and a colt who is scheduled to sell during Book 2 of the Keeneland November breeding stock sale on Nov. 7.

The filly, already named Battle of Wits, will be the first horse into the ring at Fasig-Tipton. Consigned by Susan M. Forrester, as agent, she is out of the stakes-placed Lemon Drop Kid mare You’re Kidding.

The colt at Keeneland is consigned by James B. Keogh’s Grovensale, as agent. He is out of the unraced Langfuhr mare Delicate Affair, who is from the family of Grade 1 winners Seeking the Gold and Fast Play.

So far...

Summer Wind went to $1.85 mil for Maximum Security's mom, while his weanling full sister RNAd at $190k.

Woodford TBs paid $750K for Laskarina, an unraced 1/2 sister to Justwhistledixie. She sold i/f/t Tapit. They also shelled out $650K for G2W Lucy N Ethel i/f/t Quality Road.

The crooked Life Well Lived (full to Well Armed and dam of American Patriot) RNAd at $775K and the Curlin/La Verdad weanling filly RNAd at $600K. I don't think Sheila really wants to sell those LV kids too badly.

Nereid just hammered at $1.25 mil. She looked lovely. Hunter Valley Farm signed for her, so...who the hell knows where she's headed. She sold i/f/t Justify.

Claiborne got the well-bred GSW Mei Ling for $1.5 mil. She sold i/f/t MDO.

Machmer Hall picked up 16YO G1W Miss Shop, i/f/t Justify, for $320K.

I liked was China Horse Club's $550K buy, Media Mischief (1/2 to Nebraska Tornado), i/f/t Justify.

MGSW Prado's Sweet Ride hammered at $285K (i/f/t Speightstown).

This is as good a reversal of fortune as you'll see. Lil Indy sold for $11,000 deep into this same sale last year. Not to mention that she traveled to Korea, foaled and returned to the US within about 6 months.

Really surprised Take Charge Brandi only went for $3.2 million when she sold in 2015 for $6 million. Also being that she is a 1/2 to Omaha Beach, she is only 7, her first foal is only 2 and her female family(being a grand daughter of Take Charge Lady).

In 2015 and 2019, Hill n Dale is listed as the vendor (I know in 2015 they were acting on behalf of Horton), and in 2015 and 2019, Hill n Dale was listed as the buyer. Maybe they were dissolving a partnership?

My notes next to this says John Sikura bought out the partnership to get the mare and he also bought out Glen Hill to get her Tapit foal. I think that came from a tweet by Nicole Russo but I really can't remember now. I've been fascinated by how this works since Dr. Dedominco bought out the partnership for Blind Luck.

Edited to add: I just found an article about it.

Yes it was to dissolve a partnership but its still strange to see the mare sell for 1/2 her price of just a few years ago when she hasn't had a chance to produce anything yet.

That might be WHY she sold for half what she did a few years ago. Sikura himself referred to the situation as a "half-baked cake." He did not think it was the right time to sell the mares, based on his comments.

What on Earth were they wanting for Dame Dorothy?? And realistically is she worth much more than $3.1million? Genuinely curious as I’ve never followed the mare.
