he was a very, very busy stallion. bit of a bummer, but if a mare wasn't sent to deep impact, it seemed like it was him or lord kanaloa. not super worried about his line, and i applaud that they're doing right by him.

It is a well-deserved retirement for King Kamehameha(JPN).

And there's absolutely no need to worry about his line.

In fact, he is now the most prominent sire of sires who ever stood in Japan since the great Sunday Silence(USA).
His sons Lord Kanaloa(JPN) and Rulership(JPN) are already proven as sires for the highest level fields.
Duramente(JPN) did super in the Select Sale even before his first crop would hit the track next year.
He had a lot more successors and Rey de Oro(JPN) will join soon.

And I wonder if King Kamehameha(JPN) has made his sire Kingmambo(USA) very proud.

What a pedigree he had. Every time I look at it, I find another famous name.
He has War Admiral twice four back and, judging by the name of Danzig's dam's sire (Admirals Voyage), he looked to have War Admiral five back. That is a lot of Man O' War.

There are a bunch of great sires, but he also has Busanda (male side) and Flower Bowl (female side) three back, mares who were so good that they both have races named after them.
I don't know if he made a mark as a stallion here in the US, but I imagine Turkey has a lot of TBs racing now who have his blood.

I agree. Of his 1st to 5th dam, only his 2nd wasn't considered a Reine-de-course. His first dam, Glowing Tribute, was Broodmare of the Year in 1993 and produced 6 Graded Stakes winner and one additional stakes winner. Its honestly hard to get a better pedigree. Its just solid everywhere.

Sea Hero was lucky enough to have his son Hero's Tribute become a stallion. He's currently in Canada and has become a handy sporthorse sire.

His G1 daughter Cindy's Hero also produced a GSW, although he, Delegation, is a gelding.

Admiral's Voyage was by Crafty Admiral, so it was 6 not 5 back to War Admiral there.

He was apparently much better as a broodmare sire in Turkey than as a sire himself. He is the damsire of G1 winner Ballikaya (by Victory Gallop) who stands at stud there. http://www.aygirlar.com/ballikaya.aspx

I remember reading that he inherited Busanda’s moody temperament and only ran when he felt like it.

Yay! Thanks for posting this. I'd be curious to know what this colt's personality is like, because we all know Gold Ship is unique and My Jen is a major witch.

His trainer Naosuke Sugai reportedly said a week before his debut rece, ''He tries to bite at his workout partner. Gold Ship had the same habit. I hope that he will show his fighting spirit and gameness in his debut race''.

Fans were really encouraged by that Sugai's remark

and sent Satono Gold the top choice and the colt lived up to it.
He looked still green and kept his jockey busy throughout the race.
But he broke from the gate well at least and showed his second gear in the final furlong.
