They don't say what the problem was so its 50/50, in my opinion . Kingmambo missed seasons/significant portions of seasons and was pensioned because of neck issues.

Deep Impact will be rested for the remaining breeding season because of neck pain. Therefore, both Japan leading sires - Deep Impact and King Kamehameha, have health problem.

I have little information to present you at the moment, except that the pain didn't prevent him from doing daily exercises.

'We are not sure about the relationship with the neck pain, but he also has certain symptoms in the loin. We are sorry for breeders involved, but he cannot be replaced. Whatever the causes, treating them preemptively would be helpful for the next breeding season.' (Shadai Stallion Station)

I heard King Kamehameha has some kind of horse STD but after researching the articles it seems they never released and may not know the cause of his issues. I'm editing what I wrote previously, seems he gets genital abcesses.

Kingmambo was the first thing I thought of when I read about Deep Impact's neck issues. Who would have thought that Deep Impact covering 215, 232, 171, 219, 229, 246, 262, 255, 261, 243, 241, and 197 mares over his seasons at stud could take a physical toll?! I wonder what the plan would be for those external clients of Shadai, like Coolmore and Niarchos, who shipped mares across the world specifically to be covered by Deep Impact. Do they just pray that the mares nick with Lord Kanaloa?

If he was relieved of covering duties in March, and only is expected to have 20 or so foals on the ground next year, that's a huge reduction in coverings, even before they called it quits for the season.

King Kamehameha's book being limited due to whatever disease he has is kind of old news, but it is a bummer for Shadai.

Starspangledbanner back with a bang as daughter dazzles on debut
Starspangledbanner is well and truly back with a bang.

The Coolmore stallion, who formerly experienced fertility problems, this year has his first northern-hemisphere conceived juveniles on the ground since 2015.

On Wednesday, an early runner from that crop, the Archie Watson-trained Lady Kermit, showed blistering speed to burn off her rivals and win a 5f fillies' novice stakes at Kempton by six lengths on debut.

Not a good year for stallions in Japan. Deep Impact out with a sore neck, Lord Kanaloa has a sore back, Kitasan Black has a bum knee and King Kamehameha is apparently not covering either. Poor guys! Three of Japan’s top studs sidelined. @hcm0501 you hit the nail on the head!

According to the most recent article in a Japanese newspaper ''Hochi'', King Kamehameha has not been covering any mares since the second half of last year with his weakened immune system due to old age.

And both Lord Kanaloa and Kitasan Black, who had sustained some health issues in mid March, have already resumed their stud duties after a week's rest.

Triple Crown winner Justify to stand in Australia
US Triple Crown Winner Justify will stand at Coolmore's Hunter Valley stud in the upcoming season, in a significant boost for the Australian breeding industry.

Justify, a son of Scat Daddy (USA), was unbeaten through his racing career across an astonishing four-month burst in early 2018, where he won six races, four of them at G1 level, including the famous Triple Crown, the Kentucky Derby, Preakness S. and Belmont S.

He is the only one of 13 Triple Crown winners to retire undefeated and joins another Triple Crown winner, American Pharoah (USA), on Coolmore's Australian roster for 2019.

I presume Coolmore already knows that there is sufficient interest in him to 'justify' shipping a TC winner all the way to the Southern Hemisphere. He just doesn't seem like the physical type - tall, burly, dirt horse with iffy feet - for the grass racing there. Maybe if he were a sprinter like Caravaggio I could see it.

I guess they're hopeful the Scat Daddy will really come out. But Justify's female line says dirt on both sides, so...

I'm not certain of the current ownership arrangements with Justify but China Horse Club are developing a large broodmare band in Aus & NZ
