They haven't submitted a name yet, but I noticed the 2015 Shanghai Bobby out of Opulence (Giant's Causeway/Rags to Riches) now has a gelding notation in his file. I can about guarantee, in keeping with Coolmore norms, he's not going to get a good name if he's already been gelded.

Something like "Crapulence?"
I ran marathons. I saw the Taj Mahal by Moonlight. I drove Highway 1 in a convertible. I petted Zenyatta.

Has a nice ring to it. Perhaps we should email that suggestion to them.

Well, if they have a "Name this Foal" contest, I've got dibs.

Is is safe to say that Coolmore has done a 'crappy' job finding a good match for Rags To Riches? Have any of her offspring even won a race?

Her 2011 foal, Rhett Butler, was Hungary's 2016 Horse of the Year. Her gelded 2012 foal, named Rich and Righteous, broke his maiden in the UAE. Both are by Galileo.

But yeah, considering her first two dams and her half sister Teeming, she's pretty disappointing.

It doesn't look like Galileo was a good fit with Rags. In fairness to Opulence, she was unraced due to injury. Then HER first foal died (as a yearling, I think). And we don't know for sure why her 2YO has been gelded. I really hope it's not because HE will be unraced due to injury himself.

Maybe if Rags were bred to a dirt sire, there would be a more successful result. Is there an American sire who nicks well with the A.P. Indy line?

Well, she has the Uncle Mo this year. Will be interesting to see who she visited for next year's foal.

If they're going to do that, they'd better hurry up. I wish they would. Giving Giant's Causeway another go wouldn't be the worst thing, either. I'm guessing she'll visit American Pharoah at some point if she hasn't already this year. Medaglia d'Oro would be a good opportunity, but it seems like they mostly buy MDOs at auction rather than breeding their own mares to him. There's also their beloved War Front, which is a cross that has produced a number of GSW.

I will always think of Surya as the dam of Aruna, Namaskara, and Hoop of Colour.

So, not only is that Frankel/Sariska colt reusing the name of a well-known horse, he's getting a girl's name.
