I will pay for the adoption fee if someone has a place I could stash this fellow for a couple months or so. Oh my golly gosh, my heart has been won!
Not a wholesome trottin' race, no, but a race where they sit down right on the horse!

Pick Pocket was a trainer scratch. The race was taken off the turf, but who knows.

Annie's Curls (o/o Keiko) is entered in a 1m AOC at Santa Anita on 1/8.

Tonedaddy (o/o Stormy Frolic) is entered in a 7.5f Turf MSW at Gulfstream on 1/9.

Free Verse (o/o Special Ballad) is entered in a 1 1/8m MSW at Gulfstream on 1/9.

Slip By (o/o Fortune Pending) is entered in the 1 1/16m Ft. Lauderdale (Gr.2) at Gulfstream on 1/9.

I'm really looking forward to seeing Tonedaddy's race (his debut). His dam is by Summer Squall and out of Lindsay Frolic, is a stakes winner and graded stakes placed. I'm really excited about him.

In other Curlin news, his daughter Stellar Wind is a finalist for the 3YO Filly Eclipse Award. :)

Funny story....the winner, Abundant Flurry, is another that I follow. She is by Midshipman and out of Arcadiana, making her a half sister to Cigar Street. Her dam is a half sister to Cigar. <3

It seemed worth noting that Stellar Wind is now the recipient of the 2015 3YO Filly Eclipse!

Is this Curlin's first winner?

It was BlindLucky I believe. So, congrats if you're reading this!
Copperplate was just sort of idling in the US, so our managing partner contacted Daniel Vella up at Woodbine (who trained his dam to a Gr. 3 win up there), and he was super happy to hear that we wanted to send one of her kids to him. We sent him up to Woodbine at the end of the summer, where he won an optional claimer and an allowance with Beyers in the 90s, so he was entered in the Gr. 2 Kennedy Road and dead-heated for 4th in November :)

He had the rest of November and December off, and he's back in training at Margaux Farm in Midway, KY--an unbelievably beautiful place.

A note on his name: His dam is Verdana Bold, which is the name of a font. He's a bright, shiny chestnut just like his daddy, so they decided on Copperplate--which is also a typeface :D

I am the official leader of the Copperplate fanbase (ever since BL referred to him as "a Swedish meatball" once in a conversation), so please, join me! :D

I believe so. :) I think Palace Malice was nominated for 3yo male his year but lost out to Will Take Charge.

BL, Copperplate is adorable (and I like the logic behind his name, it totally works!), best of luck with him. Into my VS he goes. :)

Here's a few of Ride On Curlin from a few months ago at Churchill Downs. We have a few horses with Steve Margolis, and Billy Gowan shares part of a barn with him there, so this ham is always at the opposite end of the row from our guys :D
