$4000 gets you Frac Daddy at Park Stud in Ontario. Having seem him in person, he would likely need to be bred to a nice big mare that throws something of substance. He's a wee man.

Did his yearlings sell ok? He didn't get any press at the big sales, so I'm not sure. I loved LOVED him as a racehorse and hope he makes it as a sire. Hopefully Wilburn crashing and burning isn't reflective of Stay Thirsty's potential.

He had 50 yearlings sell for $2,684,045, average of $53,680. One at $250,000. two at $200,000 but on the other end also had a handful sell for under $10,000, including a $1,500, $2,500, etc. Exacty 25 sold for more than $40,000.

Looking at stallions around his price range, who also have first crop yearlings, which I've included below, his average seems okay. His average is almost the same as Gemologist who stands for $15,000. There was only one other at $10,000 so I included $7,500 and $15,000 stallions as well, and only yearlings sold and average. They all had some that were low prices.

Jersey Town ($10,000) - 20 sell for $82,725 average.

Bullet Train ($7,500) - 24 sell for average $16,022

Dialed In ($7,500) - 53 sell for average of $45,015

Creative Cause ($15,000) - 38 sell for average of $65,631

Gemologist ($15,000) - 79 sell for average $54,621

Tapizar ($15,000) - 60 sell for average $90,100

To Honor and Serve ($15,000) - 49 sell for average $74,071

ST was a precocious horse, though....

I'm disappointed in To Honor and Serve's yearling prices......but I have to remember that his sire is completely unproven as a sire of sires.

I guess in the end it doesn't matter because the results will tell on the racetrack...

Sales averages are a little hard to go buy with these new studs at farms with large books... You're going to get a wide variety of mares at $10k and a huge book and some good ones and some not so good. The notes I've seen on the better ones are promising for Thirsty. Maybe an Uncle Mo kind of first year once those babies hit the track.

I saw that today and see it's reflecting what a lot of us are saying about the price hikes and high fees. It'll be interesting if we could hear which ones aren't getting the books they thought and have to cut deals to fill them. There's just so many mares and owners in that price range.
