I hear they love him in Brazil, that breeders are flocking to him. Wasn't the case here.serenassong wrote:There is an export on file for him via JC. I really, really wish that the export would list the country and date of export.
ETA- Forgot that he did shuttle to Brazil- perhaps he stays?

Glad I have Kodiak's halter... He's a nice horse, plus his dam.

no, i was just too afraid to say anything. but i agree.mimi6920 wrote:Am I the only one that is surprised that Distorted Humor is still 100k? He hasn't really had any break-out starts this year and last year wasn't a top year for him either: he finished the year 28th on the general sire list.

He is an older, going to be 22 next year, established stallion. He has 10% stakes winners from foals of racing age, it is rare to see that kind of number with the size of books in today's day and age. His foals sell well at the auctions and he covered 99 mares this year. They don't need to drop him down. He also got a G1 2yof in Cursory Glance, in Great Britain this year.mimi6920 wrote:Am I the only one that is surprised that Distorted Humor is still 100k? Revolutionary at 7,500 is lower than I expected, especially when a horse like Strong Mandate is at 10,000.
Revolutionary is one stunning boy. Hopefully he can carry on for his sire.

Yes, this. So far I've been unable to find anything of where he is now.Flanders wrote:I thought he started at Calumet? When Brad Kelley bought it, he was moved to Three Chimneys.sweettalk wrote:i think ice box went to calumet.

I don't really think either of them are overly appealing, but Revolutionary never won a grade 1, and he was sort of a plodder. Also, a son of War Pass. He was sounder than Strong Mandate. Love his female family though.
Compared to Strong Mandate, who won a grade 1 at 2 (but basically did nothing much after that). I'd think Tiznow is a bit more appealing as a sire of sires (sorry War Pass). He does have half brothers that are useful sires in Full Mandate and Newfoundland. Also has a good female family.
It's a toss up.

I am a little puzzled with Will Take Charge's fee. I think he will make a nice stallion, but if you want a Take Charge Lady stallion, I would think that you would go to his half brother, Take Charge Indy. He may be less accomplished as a racehorse, but he is really a fine looking stallion. More importantly, he is 10k cheaper than WTC, and he is from a known sire of sires, AP Indy. Unbridled's Song has not been a tremendous sire of sires, so if I was a breeder, I would choose Take Charge Indy.
It kind of hurts me to say that because Will Take Charge was sound and durable, whereas Take Charge Indy was NOT.
On a tangent, Yes It's True for 10k is an absolute steal!!

Grade 1 winner at 2 and did absolutely nothing after that. Revolutionary has the better race record.carole wrote:Strong Mandate is a Grade 1 winner by 2 time BC classic winner Tiznow and out of a Grade 1 winning mare. It's no wonder he's priced higher than Revolutionary.
We all know Tiznow won the BCC twice. He's produced great runners but isn't exactly a sire of sires. Cripes, Colonel John is struggling to stay above water right now.
There are so many other Tiznow sons out there with better records that are more appealing. Between these two, I would take my chances with Revolutionary.
