Just in time for the Breeders Cup. I know I watched him on television in the 96 Classic and Goodwood, and probably the 95 Goodwood(NBC used to show this on BC Preview Weekend). He got DQ'd in the 96 Goodwood, this was an odd call, you can watch the race in the article.
I was a huge Cigar fan, I wanted him to win the Classic so bad. Then after the race they just kinda ignored Georgia Ridder and interviewed Cigar's connections instead. I think they said a couple words to Hofmans and that was that. It just felt wrong to me and it made me sad for her. And somehow that took the sting of Cigar's loss away and made me happy that her horse had won the race for her, even if it seemed no one else cared.
Of course he was the friend of Gorgeous George. And the sire of The White Witch, aka Egg Drop. Lovely, kind horse who got to live a long time. His is a good story.
