Bev Strauss, of MidAtlantic Horse Rescue, has written a candid and informative -- and very important -- blog piece on the changes happening, rather rapidly now, in the world of horse rescue/rehab/adoption. As with seemingly most things in racing, it's a good news/bad news situation.

Bev is one of the best of those working in this arena -- and she's been at it longer than most. If you are involved in horse rescue/rehab/adoption in any way, or simply interested, I highly recommend this piece.

That's really interesting; thanks for posting! Here at Emerald Downs, we have the Prodigious Fund and we budget a small amount every month as a small donation from out of our horseman's account to help fund it. Of course, we also have fundraisers and OTTB events as well. Most of that is fairly new here and I'm really glad to see it is happening in most places. Next we have to figure out how to just get rid of the trainers who don't care so much about what becomes of their horses, and I assume they too are everywhere!
