Thanks for that link. I had been wondering WHY the stakes-winning son of the great Lonhro had been gelded, and that explained it.
I hope Manwe becomes Kementari's Dubawi.

That would really be something. I'll have to keep an eye on Manwe.

Wow…I never thought LE would sell him…but not surprised to Japan since they did so; no one here wants him. Looks likethey’re hoping he’ll return after his stud career…they didn’t even guarantee it, like I think Three Chimneys did with Silver Charm
Honor Code had awful luck - his best horses all got hurt early: HAP, EW and Howe Street - but he was a massive disappointment
Next to go is my baby, HAP

Are you shocked he moved or that it’s to Japan? I don’t see him doing that well there…but clearly LE couldn’t keep him on.stelladaniella wrote: ↑Thu Aug 17, 2023 4:23 pm Wow, Honor Code to Japan.. brb, picking up my jaw from the floor.

That they would sell him. He was so loved there. His groom must be absolutely shattered, he loved him so muchSlewfan2 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 17, 2023 4:28 pmAre you shocked he moved or that it’s to Japan? I thought they might just retire him from stud duties…but, money; guess they didn’t love him enough. Poor groomstelladaniella wrote: ↑Thu Aug 17, 2023 4:29 pmThat they would sell him. It is also possible that the Japanese buyer convinced Lane's End that they had a plan for him, and had mares lined up. If anyone can get the best out of A.P. Indy's last good son, it would be the Japanese.

I’d love it if that were the case. I think he needs to be bred to speedy mares…he’s pretty decent on turf, tooBaroqueAgain1 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 17, 2023 4:40 pm It is also possible that the Japanese buyer convinced Lane's End that they had a plan for him, and had mares lined up. Mineshaft got off to a really unfortunate start, but he never was a commercially popular sire even when he first retired….at least that I can remember. And I suspect his early offspring were just late developing - HC offspring were mostly slow. I wish they’d given him a chance with speedier mares - I suspect they bred him to long winded mares to bolster his chances of siring route horses.
But this really just seems like money. I don’t begrudge anyone for making money, but LE makes it hand over fist; I don’t know why they had to sell HC

https://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing ... n-in-japanHonor Code will offer an outcross to the many Sunday Silence mares in Japan and is expected to receive great support. The cross of A.P. Indy and his sons with Sunday Silence daughters has produced 21 foals to date that include 11% black-type winners.

I also wanted him to succeed. Really surprised that he is moving, simply because its Lane's End but if he had been at another farm he would have already been gone.
I don't think its fair to Lane's End to say that they make money hand over fist. I just assume that most Kentucky stallions are syndicated. 11 of the stallions they stood in 2023 covered under 50 mares. That is not a way to make money for anyone. Sometimes farms have to make hard decisions and I'm sure it was a very hard decision for them to have to make. Let's try to look on the bright side, perhaps this is exactly what he needs. Maybe his foals will do well in Japan.

You’re right, I was just upset.
HC is too young to be retired from stud duties - I just wanted him to stay at LE. He certainly wasn’t being supported here, so I’d rather him in Japan if they will support him there.
