No surprise. Between Honor Code and Code of Honor, I hope anyone filling out applications to breed is very careful if choosing one of those sires, lol. I’ve seen that mistake made dozens of times

IMHO, they are going to take the long road with Honor Code, and Honor AP may be his best son...so far. Max Player could take that spot.
Noble Mission got packed off to Japan, but his offspring are now showing promise, even on the dirt. So bringing on Code of Honor makes some sense.

Yes, but Code of Honor isn’t related to Honor Code or Honor AP, so it doesn’t really matter..

I’m not sure what kind of mares HAP is getting, but he’s different than his sire in that he had tactical speed, so he’s probably gotten different types of mares. I have no way of proving this, but I suspect many of the mares bred to HC were long-winded, since most probably thought he was a middle distance horse, not a true router. I also suspect he’s being bred to speedier mares now.

I’m very curious as to how HAP has been received...

Bill Farish seems very pleased with HC, so he won’t be going anywhere. Max’s primary owner, George Hall, said much earlier this year that he hoped to run Max at 5 and even longer; if he wins or even just runs a big race in the Classic, I think he still will run at 5...a good year in 2022 could land him at a nice farm

I just wonder how popular Code of Honor will be, but LE is so good at supporting their stallions..l

I'm interested to see what kind of reception Code of Honor gets from breeders considering his sire got shipped to Japan. Do you think he will go into AP Indys old stall? Or do you think lanes end will forever keep AP Indys stall empty?

Maxfield I expected- EQ beyond disappointing. Only beginning to really mature and would have been a monster next year.

I expected it. If they could retire Bernardini, they could retire EQ. Still, it’s frustrating.

I can only guess that Godolphin already has so many breeders asking for Essential Quality that they felt there would be little to gain (except for the whole sporting part) by keeping EQ in training. And possibly a lot to lose, since horses are fickle and fragile creatures.

EQ has at least had over 10 starts and “danced all the dances”.
I wonder if they expect a big run in the Classic, but it would be anti-climatic to watch him run 8th (?) and then retire.

Definitely a bummer.

It's sad not seeing Bernardini's name on the Darley stallion roster for next year.

Ashado's only stakes winner is Westwood who is by Bernardini; she's carrying a full sibling for 2022. I hope that foal is a good one.

Lanes End posted their stallion fees for 2022. Quality Road continues to lead the roaster at $150,000.

City of Light's fee was bumped to $60,000. Considering his first crop hasn't hit the track yet, I think I would rather take my chances on Twirling Candy (fee is also $60,000) or Candy Ride (fee is $75,000).

His yearlings sold well, look like running freaks, so I guess they are going with that.
