TONIGHT:
The first of two days of Breeders Crown action (not sure why they split it into 2, it could fit into one card) at Hoosier Park with the four 2yo races beginning at 9:28pm EST. All Breeders Crown races are being broadcast on FS2 and America's Day at the Races Youtube stream as well as the Breeders Crown and COSA TV Facebook and YT channels.
Friday program (first BC race is race 10): https://static1.squarespace.com/static/ ... +FINAL.pdf
Notables include 9-for-9 pacing filly Geocentric and another meeting between T C I and Karl in the colt trot. T C I is gunning to be the richest 2yo in the history of the sport, but he had a bye for the elimination so has had 3 weeks rest. Karl may hold the fitness advantage after winning his elim last week.
Hoosier Park is also holding their Halloween event tonight so there will be a horse costume contest at some point
TOMORROW:
The second day of the Breeders Crown with the 3yo and aged divisions, beginning at 8:45pm.
Saturday program (first BC race is race 8): https://static1.squarespace.com/static/ ... +FINAL.pdf
Former Breeders Crown champion Jujubee will be leading the post-parade of the 3yo colt trot prior to his retirement.
All the big guys and gals are here, culminating with a great matchup of the venerable 6yo Tattoo Artist who is on a 7-race win streak (he's won 40 of 93 starts lifetime) and 4yo star Bythemissal.
Also: more jumps! Great Meadow has the International Gold Cup timber race as well as the G2 Zeke Ferguson. The latter will include Awakened and Snap Decision (unfettered by last week's training run) who should both get close to their preferred firm ground. It is a handicap and Snap will once again shoulder the high weight, this time 162lbs giving 12-22lbs to his competition. The favorite in the short International Gold Cup field is the 13yo Tiznow gelding Schoodic coming in off a win at Middleburg 2 weeks ago. There is parimutuel wagering on this card and they will be live-streamed on the NSA website www.nationalsteeplechase.com

Favorites ruled overall in a sloppy 2nd night of the Breeders Cup but the mighty gelding Bythemissal prevailed in the open pace. Confederate likely sealed his Horse of the Year nod with his win in the 3yo colt pace.
At Great Meadow this afternoon Snap Decision returned to form with a win in the Zeke Ferguson. I'm seeing some clamor for him to get the Eclipse award based on his body of work since nobody else has stood out this year (different horse won every G1 and Noah and the Ark was lackluster in his races up to the AGN). I disagree and would probably give it to Noah or Merry Maker.

Gentlemansgame won the Charlie Hall Chase (G2) at Wetherby today, beating last years winner Bravemansgame who made an error at the final fence losing his rhythm and costing him the race.
The Charlie Hall is traditionally considered to be the start of jump season proper in the UK.

Since this is just pretty much just harness racing related, I thought I'd put it here:
https://www.thoroughbreddailynews.com/a ... -trainers/
After Document Review, Meadowlands Bans 33 Owners/Trainers. The ban goes into effect on December 1st. All were banned after the US Attorney's Office revealed the names of trainers and owners that had purchased banned substances from Lisa Giannelli, who were pretty much all harness owners/trainers. They expect more Harness horsemen/women and Thoroughbred horsemen/women to be banned once the client list of Fishman is released.

A couple of gofundmes have been set up to help the affected horsemen. In addition to the loss of the horses much of their equipment was destroyed in the blaze.

The 30 Standardbreds that died in the Tioga fire have been given a burial near the backstretch. A monument will be erected in their honor.

Jessica’s article was the hardest thing I’ve read in a long time. There is comfort in knowing they were loved and well-cared for, but losing them like that is absolutely heartrending.Miss Woodford wrote: ↑Sun Nov 12, 2023 1:13 am The 30 Standardbreds that died in the Tioga fire have been given a burial near the backstretch. Big harness races happening at the Meadowlands tonight - Fall Final Four for the 2yos + the FanDuel Championships where the top 3yos of the country face off against the top older horses. Twin B Joe Fresh just beat her elders in the mare pace, later Bond, Tactical Approach and Confederate will face the elders of their divisions. The pace will be one to remember for sure.

Southwind Tyrion coming off his upset Breeders Crown win continues hit hot streak to best Tactical Approach and It's Academic in the trot. Tactical Approach's retirement ceremony is coming up (alas, Standardbred owners are not immune to the temptation to retire sound 3yos).
Next race, the Fanduel Open Pace Championship with the career finales of Confederate and Tattoo Artist (who will both have their retirement ceremonies following the race), plus the red-hot Bythemissal. 8 of 10 horses in the field are millionaires.

Allywag Hanover decided to remind everyone that he's still the second-fastest pacer in history and noses out Bythemissal at the finish! He's certainly got a knack for pulling these upsets.

Yesterday Pic D’orhy won the 1965 chase (Grade 2) at Ascot as firm favourite, Shiskin refused to race!
The winner of the Grade 1 Betfair chase at Haydock was the dour stayer Royale Pagaille, who beat favourite Bravemansgame.
In Ireland, State Man won his sixth Grade 1 contest in the Morgiana Hurdle, easily beating his rivals by 5 lengths.
