RIP champion. A longer and happier life we would all be blessed to have.
I’d be interested to see someone better at it than me “dive back” and see how far back the old man is in pedigrees now.

You can tell by the photos how appreciated and loved he was by his caretakers in Japan. Although I'm sure good genes played a role, they did a tremendous job caring for him.

I will still never forgive Woody Stephens for what he did to this horse. He sacrificed him to execute a grudge. And he said he was going to do it before the race was even run!
Forty Niner was a Champion and a very special horse. He didn't deserve that. Woody was a great trainer, but he lost the respect that he'd earned after all those years with that move.

Memorial ceremony for Forty Niner was held at JBBA Shizunai Stallion Station on Oct 21st 2020.
And his tombstone was built over there.
