Masar was insanely impressive, ran off with the race from the front end and he kept pulling away even as he went into the dip!Starine wrote:Masar ran off with the Craven Stakes by nine lengths. He's by New Approach out of UAE Derby and Oaks victress Khawlah. He will run next in the 2,000 Guineas.
Finishing third, a head behind the runner-up, was Roaring Lion -- a grandson of Cambiocorsa by Kitten's Joy. He may also go for the 2,000 Guineas as well as some longer races such as the Prix du Jockey Club according to trainer Gosden.

Wampus (Malibu Moon x Pepper's Pride) just prevailed in a hard-fought stretch drive, winning by a nose in the 3rd at Santa Anita, a $20,000 MCL for F&M, 3yo+up. Wonder if she'll be changing barns?

Dubawi’s Daughter Of Dar Re Mi a New Rising Star At Newbury
Dubawi’s Daughter Of Dar Re Mi a New Rising Star At Newbury
http://www.thoroughbreddailynews.com/du ... t-newbury/Lah Ti Dar was always going to attract keen attention as the latest progeny out of the esteemed Dar Re Mi to hit the track and she was duly sent off the 7-2 joint favourite for this race won four times since 2010 by the John Gosden stable. Settled in fourth early by Frankie Dettori, the bay homebred was coaxed into contention in early straight and had the measure of Arcadian Cat (Kitten’s Joy) with two furlongs remaining. Asked to stretch all the way to the line, she built momentum to power away for an ultimately impressive six-length success. Dar Re Mi, who was a TDN Rising Star herself when successful by seven lengths in a Sandown maiden in April 10 years ago, went on to win three times at the top level in the Yorkshire Oaks, Pretty Polly S. and Dubai Sheema Classic. Also controversially disqualified from first place in the G1 Prix Vermeille, she is a daughter of the 1986 Vermeille heroine Darara whose other progeny included the ill-fated G1 Prince of Wales’s S. and G1 Dubai Sheema Classic hero Rewilding (GB) (Tiger Hill {Ire}) and the Hong Kong champion Diaghilev (Ire) (Sadler’s Wells). Dar Re Mi’s daughter So Mi Dar (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}) was built in her image, winning the G3 Musidora S. and finishing third in the G1 Prix de l’Opera, GSW-Eng & G1SP-Fr, $242,742, while she also produced the smart De Treville (GB) (Oasis Dream {GB}), MGSP-Fr, $112,069, her first foal who sold for 850,000gns at Tattersalls five years ago. Her 2016 and 2017 colts are both also by Dubawi. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $7,789.

The upcoming 5th at Keeneland, a 1 1/16-mile MSW on the dirt for 3yo + up, is full of well-bred horses, like;
Vinyl, by Arch x Thissongsforyou/UBS
Air On Fire, by UBS x Unaltered/Pulpit
Pendant, by Bernardini x My Flag/Easy Goer
Strike the Flag, by Smart Strike x Catch the Flag/ A.P. Indy
Hollywood Strike, by Smart Strike x Hollywood Story/Wild Rush
Pretty sure that the connections of these horses thought they would have broken their maidens a while ago.
Rooting for Pendant, because Personal Ensign.

TVG just announced that both Hollywood Strike and Pendant are first-time geldings.
Ouch...with those pedigrees, that couldn't have been an easy decision for the owners.
ETA: You couldn't have more different reactions to the geldings: Hollywood Strike went to the lead and held on to win by a couple of lengths.
Pendant was last.

Not sure why they kept persevering with breeding My Flag to Indy and Bernardini. Plodders, all of them....

Ten Blessings (out of star sprinter Indian Blessings) was just pulled up in the Kona Gold at Santa Anita. Appeared to go wrong as the short field was approaching the final turn.

Ten Blessings has been euthanized, according to the stewards. Fractured both sesamoids in left front during the Kona Gold.

So what kind of purse would the CHRB put up for a Faversham/Ziconic match race.......and would the race ever end?Sparrow Castle wrote:So much for the Turf experiment.
