Congrats to blue-blooded Gendarme, who has always been a bit of a underachiever but appears to have finally put it all together at age 7. Props to the connections to persevering with him.

No Japanese horse will contest the Breeders Cup this year, sadly. :(
Songline has had throat issues recently.

Salios(JPN)(Heart's Cry) came back to the winner's circle in 2 years, as he won the G2 Mainichi Okan 1800m turf at Tokyo under Kohei Matsuyama renewing the course record time on Oct 9th 2022, to become the first horse to capture this stakes twice since Oguri Cap(JPN)(in 1988 & 1989).
The Mainichi Okan is a key lead-up G2 toward the G1 races in Autumn.

Happy for Salios, who had the misfortune of being born in the same crop as Contrail.

Cafe Pharoah(USA)(H5. American Pharoah) won the Jpn1 Mile Championship Nambu Hai 1600m dirt in a thriller finish under Yuichi Fukunaga at Morioka on Oct 10th 2022.
It seems that he likes one-turn left-handed mile the best!!

I saw an Instagram post implying that War Like Goddess was either invited to contest the Japan Cup, accepted said invitation, or that the Joe Hirsch was a qualifier for it. I can't find that post now.

this? https://www.instagram.com/p/CjfPUaDskHW/

It is very vague. The Joe Hirsch winner does get an invite so the post could just mean that.

Anybody coming to the Breeders Cup this year?
I've found it easier to tear up tickets at 8/1 instead of 8/5.

Chain of Love(JPN)(M5. Heart's Cry) will run in the BC Filly and Mare Sprint.
She was 3rd in Saudi and 4th in Dubai earlier this year.

If Sodashi came to the United States I would drive to wherever the BC is being held myself and buy nosebleeds.

Yes, that was heartbreaking.
Stars on Earth missed the break and was blocked throughout.
I think she remains the best filly but that's the racing.
