Sometimes they sell without really selling !
They sell through one Coolmore entity to another Coolmore entity or stud farm they have an association with, then buy back the next year. It's a way of advertising their stallions and getting a big sale price on the horse's CV.

Yeah, it can be hard to keep track of sometimes because they have dozens - maybe hundreds? - of different syndicates that they list as breeders. But if you see Coolmore purchasing a yearling/weanling/2 y/o that was bred by Orpendale, Chelston, Wynatt, Southern Bloodstock, or "Broodmare name here" Syndicate, etc. then Coolmore owned the horse to begin with.Starspangled wrote:Sometimes they sell without really selling !
