Glad to see some American buyers. I think we could use some of the wonderful Japanese bloodlines here in this country.

Any pictures (besides the catalogue) around of 442? Would especially love any with his dam!
I'm unfamiliar with the buyer, SATOH Co.,Ltd, too... Who are they?
Thanks!

I see WinStar bought several of the Empire Makers... who were the other American interests?

Michael Hernon (Gainesway) and Bret Jones (Airdrie) were there (according to TDN) but I don't believe that either of them bought anything.lurkey mclurker wrote:I see WinStar bought several of the Empire Makers... who were the other American interests?

I thought maybe this was one that WinStar bought, but now I'm not sure b/c I don't see her in the catalogue. But anyway.

Nice-looking filly. Even if she doesn't turn out to be a stakes runner, with a pedigree like that, she should be a valuable broodmare.

This filly was not on the ''JRHA Select Sale'' but on the ''HBA Selection Sale''.lurkey mclurker wrote:I thought maybe this was one that WinStar bought, but now I'm not sure b/c I don't see her in the catalogue. But anyway.

While ''Select Sale'' is virtually a private exhibition of the Shadai Group's royally-bred horses, reasonably-priced horses bred by small and medium sized breeders in Hidaka District are offered in ''Selection Sale''.
Here's a link to ''Selection Sale''.

Oooooh that's where the I'll Have Anothers and Summer Birds can be found. Thank you tachyon, lots of pretty photos to drool over!
ETA: I notice several horses were purchased by the JRA. Who decides which horses to bid on? What happens to JRA-owned horses when they are done racing? Sorry for all the questions, I am just curious.

Awwwww... I've been on this board for more than ten years now.lurkey mclurker wrote:Oooooh that's where the I'll Have Anothers and Summer Birds can be found. Thank you tachyon, lots of pretty photos to drool over!

But I can swear, you are definitely the first person who focused on those JRA's purchases on the sales.
JRA staffs bid on to buy some horses on the sales to study breedings and trainings of racehorses. They will be trained at JRA's facilities by JRA staffs after the sales. And they will basicially be offered in the JRA Breeze-up sales when they become 2yos.
These horses are called ''JRA-trained horses'' in Japan.
And here below is the result of the JRA Breeze-up sales in 2015 which took place at Nakayama Raceocurse in April.

I'm soooooo happy that some US buyers came in not only ''Select Sales'' but also ''Selection Sales''.
Nexr stop will be ''JRA Breeze-up Sales'' in 2016???

Here's the list of ''2015 Hokkaido Summer Sale: Yearlings'' that will take place on between August 24th and 27th.
This is not the biggest sale in Japan.
But you may still find some of the offspring of your beloved stallions and broodmares, including 13 Empire Maker, 7 I'll Have Another, 17 Battle Plan and so on.
