Can someone in MR explain Coach’s comment that STG “ had a bellyache” ( colic??) during /after the Jim Dandy. Why would he run him if he was not 100%? I thought he was “ working lights out” before the race? I did think he appeared lethargic before both the JD and the Belmont. Appreciate the explanation. Thanks! https://www.drf.com/news/seize-grey-wor ... -undecided

From what I know, Lukas says he had gas which is why he performed poorly.Squeaky wrote: ↑Mon Aug 05, 2024 6:41 pm Can someone in MR explain Coach’s comment that STG “ had a bellyache” ( colic??) during /after the Jim Dandy. I'm pretty relieved no Travers for Seize the grey. I'd prefer not to ship and run in the California Crown. I think the Pennsylvania derby will come up the weaker field. I wish lukas had listened to the horse and scratched from the Jim dandy

I think Brad Cox is thinking of sending Dragoon Guard to the PA Derby so it may be fun to see two Arrogates battling it out to get the lead. I also am curious to see if Pandagate shows up there as well. ETA: nevermind Pandagate is going to the Albany Stakes at Saratoga on August 25th

Same. So much for a “rest” had a fast 5 fur work recently -not sure what Coach is thinking in terms of preparation. These frequent fast works are not resulting in good race day performance.

MRH didnt seem too thrilled to see STG work when they shared it with us. They seemed pretty surprised that he did.

Lukas wants to run Grey in the Travers. MRH ownership lead has not decided yet. I would hate to see him lose again by many lengths so Coach can stay in the spotlight and walk one over there. Drilling him hard -worked again this morning. https://www.thoroughbreddailynews.com/s ... been-made/

This was a different horse. Authentic Strike won. Authentic Spirit ran 6th while the other baffert entry in his race Gaming won on debut.Squeaky wrote: ↑Mon Aug 12, 2024 5:59 pmWire to wire win-congratulations! https://x.com/fanduel_racing/status/182 ... 08557?s=46CoronadosQuest wrote: ↑Thu Aug 08, 2024 4:56 pm Authentic Spirit is entered for his debut at Del Mar on August 11th, Race 7, with Kimura onboard. Seize the grey: I'm glad common sense is prevailing so far and he's not targeting the California Crown OR Travers.
Phantom Ride ran 6th in the longacres mile for his new connections. They seem to really love him and are proud of his effort. They plan to ship him to Hastings to run next..I will continue to follow phantom ride and root for him to run well despite no longer owning him(at least one person was saying that we shouldn't root for mrh horses we no longer own to run well for their new connections so that mrh will get them back..I don't get that logic)

Sadly, Authentic Spirit faded in his maiden to 6th so not the same guy unfortunately. It was the maiden that Gaming won.Squeaky wrote: ↑Mon Aug 12, 2024 5:59 pmWire to wire win-congratulations! https://x.com/fanduel_racing/status/182 ... 08557?s=46CoronadosQuest wrote: ↑Thu Aug 08, 2024 4:56 pm Authentic Spirit is entered for his debut at Del Mar on August 11th, Race 7, with Kimura onboard. There’s nothing to get……..it’s not logical which is a key to logic.TapitsGal wrote: ↑Mon Aug 12, 2024 7:40 pmThis was a different horse. Authentic Strike won. You are right...it's illogical. They actually said rooting for a horse that has since been claimed by someone else is like someone telling you to eat your own heart..talk about dramaticCurtis wrote: ↑Mon Aug 12, 2024 8:34 pmThere’s nothing to get……..it’s not logical which is a key to logic.TapitsGal wrote: ↑Mon Aug 12, 2024 7:40 pmThis was a different horse. Now someone is claiming that phantom rides new trainer is going to ruin him and hurt him..this is the same person who claims that they've hired d wayne lukas to source them a derby contender via one of the auctions..
I posted about phantom ride because I'm happy he seems to be with a trainer and owner who are proud of him regardless of his efforts. They seem determined to do right by him. I don't know why that pissed people off so much

Yes does not particularly seem to like the track at SAR this year, has been raced a lot and seems tired, likely not quite up to Gr 1 competition at this time. This gives him a bit more time and maybe softer competition over a different track that he may like better. I still think he may be over the top now. Too bad they couldn’t rest him and bring him back next year. I would love to see him with a recent trainer without the pressure of a large ownership group. Oh well. I would like to have seen him while at SAR for the Travers but maybe can catch him during a morning gallop.HolyBull2436 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 13, 2024 1:30 pm STG in PA Derby…officially? Good thing?
