Don't know- perhaps a case of contraction from being in the womb?- I have never seen it up close- only wrapped up, so I'm not sure.

I wouldn't worry about the legs. If you remember Danedream's filly had similar pasterns (front legs in this case) on her first pic. Within a couple of weeks they straightened out perfectly. Happens quite often with very leggy foals. I think Dibenoise's filly will straighten out soon too.

Her legs are fine. Most foals come out crooked (it's cramped in there for those long legs!) and then they straighten as they grow.

Her pasterns don't look unusually long to me. They're just soft at the moment (never having born weight before). She'll be up on them in a couple of weeks.

Tabby Lane (Even the Score) was a hard-knocking, tough mare who won 10 of her 40 starts and was ITM in another 11. She is owned by Ted Grevelis, small-scale owner/breeder (also blogger) in Minnesota. Don't know who the sire is, but Ted's partner caught the dam and her newborn in a perfect moment that I just had to share:
