Run Smart One sent out again 12/8 after 11/30 outing.
This time a very slow 5th place finish.
16 races in 2013 -- anyone talk to the owner/trainer lately?

Mr. Budhoo said he was tearing down the stall to run-I know RSO was steadied in the race so after I think he just stopped trying. Can't get the trainer on the phone, will try later! I don't like those short, short turnarounds, but I don't count! As long as RSO is OK, the place really doesn't matter-I like the wins, if they are ready and ABLE. A lot of the Smarties have been in traffic lately, so just as long as they are safe!

With a very small number of (claiming) horses in the stable, I think Run Smart One is an asset that he will use until he no longer becomes an asset. So I don't think the horse gets a formal retirement -- but I could be wrong.

3yo Jonesy Boy, one of Smarty's most promising runners, gets his second stakes start at AQU on Saturday in the $100K Queens County Stakes. Five-horse field, going 9F. His record is 5-3-2-0.

AQU has accelerated its schedule today, due to impending snowstorm, so this race is now scheduled for 3:22 pm EST, not the original 3:43.

And Jonesy Boy wins the Queen's County!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He's a stretch runner, and just keeps comin'. "That's a nice colt!" opines Jeff Siegel.

Video of the race. JB is #5, the chestnut. (For some reason I often can't hear the audio on NYRA replays; most don't seem to have that problem.)

Good article about Jonesy Boy's win in the Queens County. One error: JB has won 4 of 6 starts.

Smarty's Echo worked 4F in :47.00 this morning at the Fair Grounds, best of 101. This is his second work since the BC Juvy. Pretty sure he will take a shot at the Fair Grounds Derby Trail races.

Run Smart One back to work 12/28 in one mile and 70 yards $5,000 claimer at Calder.
I believe that will be 17 starts this year.
He has the inside post and has faced most of these before.
Could get a second or third with this group.
