That should be "Wide Eyed Wanderer", I think.
Thanks for catching that!!

"Carla Angel is just the prettiest mare... Dr Lenhert came out last week to see her, as she wasn't moving well through her hind end, and she had a chiropractic adjustment yesterday as a result. He also re-xrayed her head and sinus cavities to assess progression of the large growth that he saw on her x-rays filling her frontal sinus cavity back in April. And guess what? It isn't there any more! There is some residual drainage in the rear cavity and she'll be on anti-biotics again to clear it but - yes - it's gone! Dr Lenhert believes that the mass visible in the spring was attributable to infection/an abscess which is now almost completely resolved... so Carla will hopefully have the very full life that she deserves."
Wow, I am so happy to hear this! She is looking so good now too...here's to a happy ever after!

Good lord... I'd be at a loss where to start, so many problems. Poor girl.
Talk about images that haunt even the most hard hearted person. Poor baby. I'd love to know who did that to her jaw. And jab a screw through that moron's head.

OMG, such sad pictures. I sure hope the kind person that saved her can turn this old mare's last few years into the fattest and best of her life!

Considering the screw in her jaw, being sent to an auction where AHR could pull her was probably the most luck she's had in a long time.

Just to clarify about Wide Eyed Wanderer. She was pulled from a feedlot by Jenny Earhart or her friends, not Megan and AHR. She hadn't gone through auction yet. They got 2 other, much younger TBs as well -- one whose breeder is taking back and another who will be put up for adoption after some care and rehab.

She was purchased for $3200 out of that sale by Jose De La Torre, who also bought 2 other mares by the same stallion (Pirate's Bounty): Private Persuasion ($2k) and Blonde Bounty ($2k).

I thought that Blonde Bounty sounded hauntingly familiar. And, indeed, she also was rescued from... Lancaster? recently. Unfortunately, she did not make it, even though things did look promising to start with. If you follow the AHR facebook site, you may remember her as "Sophia".

Kudos then to Jenny Earhart and/or friends.

WTF??

I remember that too (I'm always on their FB page).

Is that the same Jose de la Torre who races horses at Los Al?

How did 2 mares he bought become so horribly neglected so quickly?

I wonder what became of Private Persuasion.

Jenny just listed the former TB racehorses currently under her care.

Blue Chagall,
Raingear,
Killer Bear,
Kingofthemountain,
The Director,
Dhaamer,
Punxsutawney Phil (this is the poor guy who arrived with the huge wound on a front leg, so deep it exposed bone and tendon; he is doing as well as can be expected, but has a long way to go)
Triple Feature,
Seat Belt Required,
Stagestruck Marian,
Wide Eyed Wanderer, &
Fly Chet Fly

Hopefully they didn't all need to be rescued from auction or thereabouts.

Did Wygod set up any arrangements with TB rescues in California should any of his horses--those he bred-- need help?

Not all, although I can't give you a horse-by-horse breakdown. Ironically Phil was an owner donation; they sent him to what they thought was a good farm while they looked for a place like Jenny's. That farm is where he incurred the awful leg injury, which, last I heard, the farm still would not own up to.

Well, scratch one name from the "good farms" list.

Jenny reports tonight that her vet found yet another screw embedded in Wide Eyed Wanderer's jaw. The person responsible for this is apparently whoever bought her at a Barretts sale in 2010. I don't have time to track that down.

I did a quick Google search and found this from Bloodhorse. Looks like it was Jose De La Torre who bought Wide Eyed Wanderer in 2010. He has current entries at Los Alamitos.
