Having no description of the injury conjures all sorts of possible mishaps. :(
Did he come off the mare awkwardly, injuring a leg? Fall off and bang his head? Did the mare decide at the last moment that she didn't want to have relations with this stranger after all...and kicked him in his privates?

It's possible he had a flare up of the muscle injury in his hind quarters that caused his retirement. We'll be visiting Coolmore in late June. Hope to see him there.

Yes, Mayano Top Gun was given the nickname ''Mach Shock Wave''.

JRA has been making posters promoting big Japanese stars since Haiseiko (1970) regularly.
77 horses have been honored so far and most recent (#77) is Just a Way.
You may find all the Japan's heroes in the past in the link below.
Mayano Top Gun (Mach Shock Wave) is #42.

She is Mejiro Ramonu(JPN), Retrospectiv! :D
In 1986, she made the Oka Sho - Oaks double, and went on to beat older females in the QE2 Commemorative Cup.

Like Mejiro Ryan (#33) and Mejiro Mcqueen (#34), Mejiro Ramonu was bred & owned by Mejiro Bokujo (Farm).
Mejiro's founder Toyokichi Kitano was one the most repected owners/breeders in Japan along with Zenya Yoshida (Shadai) and Tomohiro Wada (Symboli Bokujo).

Great photos. Nice to know the stallion is still being ridden, and with a simple D-ring, at that. Happy horse with a mouth full of spring grass.

Oh, he'll pick it up. . . all he needs "Where are the toilets" "I need a train ticket to--" and "a glass of red wine."

Oh, sorry, that's my vocabulary when I travel in a foreign country.

Cali Chrome standing for $25k-35k next year.
When California Chrome does go to stud next year, Martin said he expects the stud fee will be between $25,000 and $35,000.
Several California breeders have expressed an interest in breeding to California Chrome, so Martin said he may structure a program that would pay the shipping costs for California breeders if the colt ends up standing in Kentucky.

That seems a bit more reasonable than APs predicted $75k fee

If he wins the TC then $75k is reasonable.
