What are the chances she runs in the Cigar?

Auctioneer to Groupie Doll: "Young lady you're going to join a pretty nice broodmare band in a minute". :D
That really made me smile. As soon as he said that, I knew it was Mandy. :)

I figured it was either her or Yoshida!

Thank goodness the Doll stays here.

However, as a newbie, I thought she would sell for a lot more. Can someone enlightened me please?

She's a sprinter and does not have stellar breeding, commercially speaking. By Bowman's Band out of a dam that only won at Mountaineer. Dam is out of a good broodmare sire line, though.

I was just thinking to myself what I wouldn't give for a portrait of Mandy's broodmare band by the end of the Keeneland sales. That would be one fantastic group shot lol! Or, she could put out a calendar...each mare gets her own month. I'd so buy that. :)

Mandy Pope said initial plans are to retire Groupie Doll but Buff was making pitch for Cigar Mile. "I really don't know," Pope said.

Whoops, the War Front x Meridiana (GER) colt is an out, as is the colt's dam.

Retire her. The CM is a little too soon for comfort.

Very excited! Winstar got her- have the possibility of seeing her give birth on the cams!

Awww, that is sweet. :)

So, how does it work now? I heard the announcer that everyone has til noon tomorrow to "move their purchases." Clearly, they pay up and then make shipping arrangements with the former owners/trainers?

For all the hand wringing being done in the FT November thread, Japanese buyers haven't been very active at KeeNov thus far.
Katsumi Yoshida paid $1.5M for Diamondrella (GB). Shadai paid $1.3M for Zealous Cat. Koji Maeda paid $100K for the Blame x Indian Valley weanling. Masa Otani paid $100K for Bluegrass Chatter. And that's it.

The most active buyer so far is Don Alberto Corp, with 16 mares (that cost a total of about $7,125,000). Guess they've got a barn to fill. :D

KBIF is "Kentucky Breeders Incentive Fund"...thats for KY bred horses.

The buyers already have the line of credit to the auction, so they just need to pull a truck around and take the hips they bought. The sellers get their portion of the money directly from auction.

I'm so glad Mandy got Dolly. What a lovely broodmare band she's managed to put together. What exactly is her background? Where did she come across all the cash she's shelling out?
