I'm really fascinated by color, but I know very little about it. This little guy raises questions for me.ChampionCurlin wrote:C. Broken Vow x Hidden Assets (4/8) - 1/2 to Country Day, full to mult SW Good Deed
The black mane and tail says to me (in my ignorance) that he is a bay. He has a very light-colored body, and I know that there can be very light-colored bays, but the thing that gets me is that his legs...almost all the way up...are even lighter-colored than his body, and there's no sign of any black points anywhere. Also, other than the mark on his forehead, he has no defined chrome anywhere as well.
If I didn't know that neither his sire or dam are greys, I might have thought that this youngster might grey out, even with no goggles. His nose is almost without color (that may be the picture...angle, lighting, etc.)
Is a black mane and tail in a foal without a grey parent permanent? Is there such a thing as a bay horse with no black points on its legs? Is there a way to project what this colt is going to look like, from a color perspective, when he's a yearling?
I'm sorry for asking dumb questions, but this adorable little colt's color is intriguing to me. Hoping for an answer from a knowledgeable bunch of people.

Bay foals aren't born with black legs. They are born lighter than their true color, with light colored legs. Once they shed their baby coats, their true color comes out. Dark bay/brown can be born with black legs.Paseana wrote: I'm really fascinated by color, but I know very little about it. This little guy raises questions for me.

I would imagine he is similar color to his dam standing beside him.

She is such a nice mare, she had so much talent, problem was she was a complete chicken and would shut down if things didn't go her way. Still managed to win 3 allowance level races though!Izvestia wrote:Love that little blaze. The mare is gorgeous. I like Lite The Fuse - such a great outcross pedigree and he is a good breed-to-race sire.
Think we may have one from the last crop of Lite the Fuse, I believe he's been pensioned.
