I seem to remember seeing pics of him with a muzzle on and the groom carrying a small bat. Wonder why he is so insane.

Some of them just are. I took care of a yearling who I'd handled from birth who got super nasty. I had to carry a twitch between us when putting him out. We castrated him and it all ended. But I know nothing bad happened to him and he was just nasty mean.

And I bet he will be tossed out and not handled much. Everyone will probably be happier with that situation.

Yep, some of them just have a mean streak. I remember a filly I worked with at the track that was just plain scary. Angry at the world, you couldn't even LOOK at her.
When she retired and went back to the farm, we figured she would mellow out - maybe it was the track environment that made her bad? NOPE. She attacked her own foal and almost ate another horse for dinner. I don't know what happened to her.

Sometimes I wonder if it's some organic cause that is never picked up on. I think it was Ribot that used to hang himself from the top of his stall with his teeth. Upon his death, they found a brain tumor, and guessed that it would have caused him to have a headache constantly. The hanging part was thought to have helped the pain.

I don't think it will go up just because he sired a Derby winner. I think any bump in the stud fee will be due to the fact that American Pharoah seems to be a really special individual and POTN was already popular and doing well at stud.

I think it is interesting that the first and second finishers are grandsons of two stallions who were exported relatively early in their stallion career (Lion Heart and Empire Maker). I would think that Empire Way may end up in Kentucky someday with his sire and female family.

I was curious and checked on POTN yesterday. I was amazed to see that his stud fee was $60k! What was it last year?

In the section of the BH Stallion Roater that lists his top earners, AP is the only really nice horse. A couple of SW, but nothing who has won any decent kind of money. How can they justify $60k for 1 good horse (who had not won as a 3 year old when they decided on his 2015 stud fee!!)? I bet that AP's winnings represent 3/4th of POTN's earnings.

is potn getting good runners with iffy producers? if his foals are winning stakes races and the mares are not really stakes producers that might be why. i don't know much regarding the mares he's seen.
