Now they have a full brother and sister to Chrome, I wonder if they will send the mare to a different stallion...

Here's a better picture of California Chrome's new brother and Love the Chase. Shared on FB by the Coburns.

I wonder if they would actually spring for the $300k fee? They always seem to stress the money/cost aspect of everything.MTO wrote:lurkey mclurker wrote:Now they have a full brother and sister to Chrome, I wonder if they will send the mare to a different stallion...
I would expect Tapit.

There are some nice, reasonably priced stallions here in California that they could send her to, unless they're really expecting lightning to strike twice...

Union Rags x Haysee colt (dam half to Shackleford)

Those are some fine looking babies, JustinNich, with very nice pedigrees. After spending the time and money to breed those quality mares to the right stallion, you must be so pleased...and relieved....to have such attractive and healthy foals on the ground.

Thanks guys! Now the waiting game as we see what they develop into from here, but happy to start with 4 healthy foals at this stage.
As for the mares, the plans are:
Fire Assay - Hard Spun
Bemused - Shackleford
McCool - Alpha (ny-bred foal)
Haysee - Into Mischief
Bridal Memories - Declaration of War
Much Rejoicing (daughter of BC winner Soaring Softly, we alternate years with co-owner so didn't breed her this yr) - More Than Ready
Mosaicist (maiden mare) - Data Link
We've used a lot of young sires lately so hopefully we have some luck. Getting into PotN this year for McCool worked out great given how well he's doing. If blame and union rags work out, we'll have some nice crosses with them from this year, and we'll be big declaration of war fans if that mating leads to a foal for us next year. Always fun to look ahead!
