For those of you who have followed Run Smart One-he had x-rays yesterday for his knee which has been swollen and sore. The results were not real good and you can go to his facebook page: Run Smart One-Retired Racehorse. Thanks!!!! RSO deserves a wonderful retirement=he has been thru so much!!!!! 100 races is so hard, no matter what the trainer/owners think-they don't have to run!!!!!!!

John Servis' three-year-old Nasa back in training after brief illness.
Nasa is probably the most promising of the three-year-old Smarties and is stakes placed.

Isn't He Clever ran a decent second this weekend in a pretty big $100,000 Sunland sprint stakes.
He was favored but could not get up in time though he was gaining late.

Caught the Irish Smarty race at Philly Park Tuesday.
(Don't expect much from this one -- doesn't move like a racehorse)

Old Time Hockey -- probably best effort of his career -- impressive at six years old.
He had been training very well and the workouts indicated he was ready for a major effort.

Nasa was voted Pennsylvania two-year-old of the year for 2014.
I heard that Smarty's stud fee is now $3,500. (Horse owner interview)

wow!!! I am not real impressed with Northview's efforts for Smarty, he is hardly mentioned-so I don't think they are saying much to others about him as a sire -I wish he was in KY! His sire career has been very mismanaged from the start!!!! very disappointed, not in Smarty, he is the best!, but in his connections!!!!!! Smarty has very few babies, compared to the other sires-but is holding his own!!onecalicocat wrote:Nasa was voted Pennsylvania two-year-old of the year for 2014.

Jane:
Well, I think we have to be realistic.
One grade 1 winner in all these years (CentralIntelligence in a less-than-stellar effort) is not exactly in the category of Tapit, Kitten's Joy or even Afleet Alex.
Smarty has produced a lot of good allowance and lesser-stakes winners. He is a good regional sire.
Maybe Nasa has a Grade i in him.
