From what I've read, it was very hard for Bradley to decide to part with his Doll. But he said he had to make that decision in order to benefit all the other horses he owns and to ensure his farm thrives. She's going to pay for lots of breeding and feeding expenses.
With Mizdirection, she's about to be six and it's may be time for her to head to a farm. Rome, however, has no farm...he and his partners aren't breeders, they own horses to race. A broodmare prospect needs to go to her next life...and a new owner.

I worry what happens to them if they aren't good producers or have a tough time pregnant. Mares don't have a "return" to the US agreements, do they? We worry about the studs, but our mares seem to be given little thought once off shore.Carotene wrote:Ok, so it's not just me that is surprised to see who is in the catalogue - like Groupie Doll and Mizdirection. I know it's a business, but man I'd have a hard time selling any horse like these. It would physically hurt. Probably why I'm only a fan and not an owner. I'd drive my hubby crazy b/c I'd keep every horse that came through my door lol!
I hope they all go to good homes.

I personally don't worry about any of them, mare or stallion. With the internet, you can follow offspring of any horse you want, be it stallion or mare. It takes a little work but its not that hard.Ziggypop wrote:I worry what happens to them if they aren't good producers or have a tough time pregnant. Someone who pays millions of dollars for a mare isn't going to abuse her. No mares don't have return agreements because you can't put any kind of clause on an auction horse. If a stallion is sold at auction, its the same thing, you can't put a clause on an auction horse. If the mare was sold privately the owner could put whatever they wanted into the sales contract. Stallions are sold by owners privately and they can put whatever clauses they want to into the sales contract. However they are considered gentleman's agreements and are not enforceable. Just because a mare stays here is no guarantee of a good future. Take Our Mims for example, a Champion filly who when she couldn't get in foal anymore, was left abandoned in a cattle field to fend for herself with no shelter or vet care. She was in bad shape when she was found.

What you say makes sense & good for him to be able to separate heart from head...I just know I couldn't. I didn't realize Mizdirection was almost 6 years old! Well then, that makes a bit more sense - time for her next stage in life.BaroqueAgain1 wrote:From what I've read, it was very hard for Bradley to decide to part with his Doll. I'm definitely intrigued enough to watch the sites to see what these amazing fillies and mares sell for. My guy was $5k...nothing like a Havre de Grace or a Rachel, but he's worth every penny.

a little surprised... I guess no one wants to retain nice fillies/mares anymore.
In looking quickly- She's a Tiger and Sweet Lulu are both listed as outs

Kathmanblu to Shadai, too. I bet the cargo for his flight home will be worth more than the plane itself

Fudge. Someone actually shipped an American mare to Frankel and now she's off to Japan.BlindLucky wrote:To Shadai.amfuller wrote:sold for $2.4amfuller wrote:In Lingerie in foal to Frankel is about to enter the sales ring.
