I agree. He's not terrible, he just looks small and light-boned. But, that's better than being large and light-boned. He's got a very beautiful head and he looks quite balanced, but that neck - it just looks higher set than I prefer. I think he will do well though, he had good speed, has a quality pedigree. He sure is a pretty colour too.RuffiantoRags wrote:Honorable Dillon is just 15.3, only just turned 5 so maybe he'll grow a bit more and reach 16 hands like his sire Tapit. He is a very correct horse. I don't like the position of his neck either, but that was the photographers choice.

I don't know if anyone has ever shared this, but Declaration of War has quite the muscles:

Not sure how "new" it is (within past 2 years at least since he moved to Calumet in 2013) but this is only the second one I've ever seen of Point Given (the other the one when he was at TC). I must say TC kept him in pretty good shape.

Point Given hasn't acquired that thick-necked, heavy-through-the-belly, I'm-a-laminitis-candidate look that we've seen on some older studs, so I think both Calumet and TC have done a good job keeping him in good shape. I've read that the big stallion decided soon after he retired that he was NOT interested in the whole being ridden thing, so it may have been a challenge keeping him fit.

Maybe he calmed down after some years?BaroqueAgain1 wrote:Point Given hasn't acquired that thick-necked, heavy-through-the-belly, I'm-a-laminitis-candidate look that we've seen on some older studs, so I think both Calumet and TC have done a good job keeping him in good shape. That recent photo of Monarchos looks weird, like they took his hind end and stuck it on a broodmare.

Once upon a time there was a horse named Kelso.

He's actually at the Nuckols' farm in KY. The first picture was him starting out at stud at Claiborne.

It only takes Claiborne a year to get their stallions from fit to flub. But I didn't realize he was at a different farm. Missed that memo... I'm assuming from years ago.BlindLucky wrote:Life At Zen wrote:Claiborne's stallions are the fat kids in gym class.BlindLucky wrote:That recent photo of Monarchos looks weird, like they took his hind end and stuck it on a broodmare.

I don't know how he looks now but at the beginning of the year when I saw him in England, he looked stunning! Gorgeous big horse with a very athletic build despite his height, his temperament was also very good!Izvestia wrote:The horse could run, but fat ankles...or is that his hind feet are small? I don't like the slope of his short stubby pasterns either. Something about his knees down doesn't make me love him. Nice body though.

Is there a big old lump on the front of his right rear cannon bone? Or is his white stocking causing the optical illusion of a lump?
Sure looks like that leg is less than straight and 'clean.'
