Declaration of War will be joining Magician and Verrazano on Ashford's stallion roster for 2015. For breeders who can't get to War Front, IMO DofW is a great option...although at $40,000 he's still not inexpensive.

Horses just love cold weather! They thrive in it. People always expect horses to feel it the same way we do, but they don't.

Vittorio d'Oro(USA) has just arrived in Arrow Stud on Jan 9th 2015.
He is going to be the first son of Medaglia d'Oro(USA) to stand at stud in Japan.
He was owned by Sheikh Mo while he was racing.
His dam Preeminece(JPN), multiple stakes winner in Japan, ran fifth to Star Parade(ARG) in the 2004 Santa Maria H in the US where she would be bred to MDO.

All things are relative. There comes a point when it ceases to be fun even for horses.

After much excitement following his outstanding first European crop, a bout of colic will prevent Starspangledbanner from returning to Coolmore Ireland for the 2015 Northern Hemisphere season. He will instead remain at Rosemont Stud in Victoria, Australia where plans for him to return to Ireland in 2016 will be reviewed later in the year.

Americain will be moving to the Irish National Stud for the Northern Hemisphere Season.

He's had two full books in two seasons at Swettingham Stud for the Southern Hemisphere.
And yet, he had virtually no interest at Calumet other than Brad Kelley's own broodmares. He
was a bit overpriced for the market. The bloodlines could have used his stamina in the States,
where fast, fragile and precocious rule a shortsighted marketplace.

Nevertheless, Calumet & Kelley showed a lot of class by going out and finding a good situation
for Americain where he could have a fair chance at success.

Good that he has the full books, but very sad that he had almost no interest here. Was hoping he would have been well received here.

I think this is a big loss for American breeding. I really think he could've added something. Here's hoping Kelley's broodmares produce some fine runners by him.

Harbinger(GB) sired his first graded winner, when his 3yo colt Beruf(JPN)[o/o Les Clef d'Or(JPN) by Sunday Silence(USA)] won in the G3 Keisei Hai 2000m turf overcoming the widest draw at Nakayama on Jan 18th 2014.

It does look like Harbinger(GB) has a bright future!
And Beruf(JPN), 4-3-1-0, now emerges as a serious contender for the upcoming Classic races.
His dam Les Clef d'Or(JPN), multiple graded winner herself, is a full sister to Stay Gold(JPN)

But here's the rub -- would you have bred your mare to him? Whether breeding commercially or to race your own, you want to set yourself up to score as nice a return as possible (whether at the sales or as a breeding prospect) with the funds you have available. It's really tough to bring a horse here who has little if any name recognition by American owners and breeders, and tougher yet if he's a turf horse.

Our horses are falling apart. We do greatly need some new blood here. It's time we have a serious discussion about allowing AE.
