We might need more than $2 million to get her. Dr. Dedomenico had said he wouldn't give her away. He bought out his partners for $2.5 million. Wonder what the chances are she'll sell privately.BlindLucky wrote:And Blind Luck RNA'd at $1.4 mil.

Possibly, but she slipped her last foal and he has a filly and a colt out of her so far. I figure $2 million and sad puppy eyes might get herSparrow Castle wrote:We might need more than $2 million to get her. Dr. Dedomenico had said he wouldn't give her away. KeeJan is an odd sale for a multi million dollar mare. Why was she not offered in FT Nov or Kee Nov? That is where all the megabucks buyers are.
And, by now most/all the hot sires are fully booked. I know that the managers of the top stallions always leave a breeding or 2 open for top mares that sell in Nov., but with the sheds opening in a month? There is no chance she can get a farm season to a Tapit or War Front. And a private season would be NG, which would be expensive once the prospective foal was insured through an agency.
I wonder how high the bidding would have gone to if she had sold with a booking to Tapit?
Since 90% of reserves are "all the way" we also don't know when the last live money bid was. Bidders might have dropped out way before $1.4m

Good points. Apart from what Mike Puhich said, it's hard to know why she was withdrawn from the F-T Nov sale and entered in this one. Maybe they're not real sure they want to sell her and/or there are questions about her breeding health. Maybe it was a test to see if a high quality mare could bring in mega bucks here. Perhaps she has a return visit to Midnight Lute already in the books for this owner this year. Also, I would assume part of that $2.5 million to buy out the partners would have gone to Dr. Dedomenico as a part-owner. Not sure how these things work at this level.
I'm just hoping the two foals on the ground greatly increase her worth over the next few years. I'm really looking forward to watching them on the track!

It was my understanding that she was withdrawn from the November sale because of health reasons from the aborted pregnancy, but I don't know with 100% certainty.

Who got 143, the half to She Be Wild by Union Rags?
The other one I was interested in was the Lemon Drop Kid colt who is a half to Keertana, Snow Tap Mountain and Diversy Harbor; but I read he went to JSM Equine and will be resold later this year.

The 1/2 to She Be Wild was withdrawn. I saw her yesterday afternoon, so it must have been a late decision. Also withdrawn were the heavily advertised Foxy Danseur and her 2014 MDO filly, both of whom I photographed yesterday. If Up doesn't top now, I'm going to be surprised. Her 2014 War Front filly will likely also sell well.Starine wrote:Who got 143, the half to She Be Wild by Union Rags?

Ah, will be interesting to see who she goes to next. Watch her get nothing but champs being covered by the Euro sires.mariasmon wrote:Looks like Pure Symm went to the same connections that have Rizeena, so I guess she'll be off to Ireland.
She was in fine fettle yesterday.

Sagamore is one of the most storied farms in American breeding history. It was pretty much defunct until just a few years ago- and the owners are rebuilding the operation. The most famous resident was the "Grey Ghost of Sagamore", otherwise known as Native Dancertachyon wrote:So glad that Evening Sky(JPN)(hip#270 - Heart's Cry mare o/o Eventail) sold well (335K)!!

On a side note, do you know whatever happened to Evening Sky's half-brother, the nearly black Straight Story?
