Probably both. Milwaukee Brew, Sligo Bay, Silent Name and Wilko have all moved, some of them twice, and they seem to have found their happy place in Canada, where each is in the top 10 on the general sires list (MB at #1, SB at #2, SN at #3 and Wilko at #7).Northport wrote:From someone who knows more about the breeding biz than I do, do you think Adena moving many of their stallions (aka not Awesome Again and Ghostzapper) around everyone 1-3 years helps or hurts their stud careers?
Macho Uno has moved and seems to be doing alright. I was told that Alphabet Soup saw far more mares this year, back in KY, than he did the previous year. He's also moved around a few times.
Others, like North Light, never really caught on in North America. Showing Up moved a couple of times and never found his footing as a sire. Maybe ge wouldn't have been a good sire, regardless, though.
I generally think 5he moves have sent the stallions to locations where it's expected they'll receive more support. Often, it works, sometimes it backfires.
