I was going to say "why?" until I realized she's a half to Giacomo and Tiago. Really, these prices for mares are !!!!!!y

And in addition, you've got Empire Maker, who is out of the blue hen Toussaud. I'd have paid top $ for that pedigree!

He has represented overseas interests such as the Saudis in the past.

I checked out his website, and it does look like several deals he's brokered have landed stallions for Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and a few South American countries.

I haven't exactly seen people clamoring for Graeme Hall around here lately, so that'll end up being a bargain for someone.

From the China Horse Club. They bought Parranda, too, and several others. Stocking up!
I'm seeing that- are they based overseas?- see that they buy from the sales in England as well.
They are based in China but race all over. They have horses racing in 6 countries, including a few in the US. Iotapa may stay in training and may stay in the US. The article I read said they have a few horses in the US already. They also said that the in-foal mares are going to Ireland to be bred to Australia.

It might be hard to justify having Iotapa stay in training, considering that she has such a history of bleeding. She's banned now in California...I don't know how other jurisdictions would handle her issues.

Two-year-old Modeling, in foal to Distorted Humor, sold for $2.85 million. She's by Tapit out of Teeming (out of Better Than Honour), and a half-sister to grade I winner Streaming.

IMO, it's just so wrong to breed a 2yr old. Gee, let her grow for a few years. It's always about $$$$$$$$$

Ghosts of the Great Ostrich Bubble.

Breed expensive breeding stock on a business plan of selling expensive breeding stock. What could go wrong?

Her DOB is May 14, 2012 and her last covering date was April 9, 2014. Not even 24 months old when she was bred.

Ashford had a bunch of mares bred to Scat Daddy on southern hemisphere time at the end of today's session. A Lookin at Lucky 2 yr old filly, Pokolbin Girl, was one.

IMO, she really is a very beautiful mover, pedigree aside.

And, of course, any animal who so much as walked by a picture of War Front or Tapit is bringing a premium.

I really wonder how she came to be covered at two years old. Was she so horribly injured in pretraining or as a yearling that they figured she would never make it to the track, why not breed/sell? Considering she went for so much I would assume she wasn't exactly crippled.

Unfortunately, there are a number of horses who are injured and done by that point in their career. Also could've been something with them as a foal or early on that precluded them ever being a racehorse. I don't think many are entirely comfortable with breeding at 2 even if they decide to do it.

Tapit's full sister who was at FT is another filly who was bred at 2:

Thanks for that, I'm tickled pink over this one. Hope she runs everyone off their feet.

I actually worked with her for a bit. She was a pretty yearling. Conformation wise she wasn't bad at all but they had trouble getting her right. Seemed like her body just didn't handle the sales prepping? Never did hear exactly what they found to be wrong. I have a cute picture of her with her Equissage on though.
