Japan is actually a series of islands. Most of the horse farms are on Hokkaido, which has an approximate area of 32,000 square miles. There are four major breeding farms in Japan. Last year they produced around 6,800 foals. For comparison, Ireland also has an approximate area of 32,000 square miles and produced over 7,000 foals last year.Private Thoughts wrote:Japan is a very small island, and where the horses are raised is even smaller. The area can only sustain so many animals. But they keep buying and buying and buying.
The U.S. produced over 21,000 foals last year. I do not think Japan is going to take all of our horses and then run out of room for them.
