It really is- wonder if he slipped while dismounting and came crashing down- just goes to show no matter how many precautions you take, sometime the worst happens.

Is he coming home to stand...or to be pensioned?
On one hand, I'm sure there are US connections and fans who will love to see Silver Charm again in Kentucky. On the other, I'm not sure that moving a senior stallion away from the only home he's known for years, putting him through the stresses of shipping that far, is necessarily the best thing for him.

Pensioned. It was part of the deal when he was sold that when he was retired from stud that he be returned to the US.

Hoping maybe to see him again- planning another trip to Kentucky next October. Would be fun to pull out the pictures I have of him before he left for Japan and do a before and after shot. 3C's has changed since then, though.

I am grateful for all the wonderful care he has received over the years.

Their updated website says they still do tours, but only in April and October:

Three Chimneys tours are given in April and October at 1pm Tuesday through Saturday. $10 cash donation per person, children under 12 are free.

That's definitely wonderful news!!!!

We are all glad that Silver Charm will be back in the states where he will always be loved by everyone, even if JBBA could also be one of the greatest studs in the world not only for active stallions but also for retired stallions, where they can lead happy and long lives. (I don't mean to say Japan is a great country for the thoroughbreds. But JBBA in particular is a wonderful place.)
Silver Charm is slated to leave from Narita Airport on November 27th.

Horseracing is a global sport and racehorses & stallions can travel around the world.
But it's always great to see them return to their home country especially after their retirements.

I personally hope that War Emblem will be back in the US soon.
What are you waiting for, YOSHIDA BROTHERS????

Would love to see War Emblem and Came Home come back as well. I know that War Emblem has problems at stud- but I think Came Home is still going strong.

Wish he were going to the Horse Park instead. He'd have filled in nicely the huge void Cigar left, he was a very popular runner with fans, and he'd have had housing more like what he's been used to (vs outdoors with a run in shed...).

I wonder why they never considered sending him there?

I'd guess it's a matter of who campaigned for him. The Horse Park likely was never involved. Blowen seems to actively pursue all the big-name horses to retire to OF.

Old Friends was also home to Silver Charm's dam, Bonnie's Poker, once she was pensioned (around 2004) until she died in 2010. I think that Blowen was active through the years in making sure that everyone involved knew he wanted to be the retirement home for Silver Charm, too.

Pleasantly Perfect sold to stand in Turkey.

The people in Turkey are certainly working hard on trying to improve their stock. El Corredor and Offlee Wild were recently sold there too.

Old Friends doesn't have barns for their senior horses? I didn't know that.

Now I wish Silver Charm was headed somewhere else....somewhere that would provide him with a nice, warm stall as well as a paddock.

At $5k this year, Pleasantly Perfect only got 27 mares, so I guess the interest in him in KY has mostly fizzled out.
