Courtier, a 2yo half-brother to Emollient, won an allowance at CD today. I guess he would actually be a 3/4 brother since he's by Pioneerof the Nile and she's by Empire Maker.

That's two straight for Courtier. He's worth keeping an eye on.

Beat Hoppertunity, who's no slouch. Both were in off 5-6 month layoffs. Encouraging effort from Pimp.

Good effort by Hoppertunity as well. He's a half to Executive Privilege. I'm hoping for good things for him in 2015. And Pimpernel--how could I not root for a horse named after one of my youthful literary heroes? :D
I ran marathons. I saw the Taj Mahal by Moonlight. I drove Highway 1 in a convertible. I petted Zenyatta.

If he stays sound, Hopper should be a nice older horse next year. Whether he'll be among the top ones remains to be seen. I think Pimp will be a useful sprinter. I hope to see both of them do well in 2015.

Hopefully he'll do well enough to be more than a pimp after his retirement.

In the nightcap Friday is Roundupthelute, a half to the ill-fated Millionreasonswhy. Baffert has always been high on this colt but he's been off a long time (surprise).

Half-sister to Wise Dan/Successful Dan steps up to her first dirt stakes competition Saturday.

  • LoPresti: Enchanting Lisa 'reminds me more of Successful Dan than she does Wise Dan'
Fresh off an allowance win in her debut dirt start at Keeneland, Mort Fink's Enchanting Lisa will give the dirt another try in Saturday's Grade 2, $200,000 Chilukki at Churchill Downs.
The half-sister to two-time Horse of the Year Wise Dan and multiple Grade 2 hero Successful Dan will be facing stiffer competition Saturday, but trainer Charlie LoPresti is optimistic about the move to dirt after the War Chant four-year-old made her first seven starts on either synthetic or grass surfaces . . .

Tale of Life (JPN) won on debut today at Saint-Cloud. This Deep Impact colt is out of a Storm Cat daughter of Miesque, named Second Happiness. The colt is owned and bred by Flaxman Holdings.
