Debut Updates:

1) Ontology, 2yo c, Deep Impact x Pretty Carina (USA)--newcomers at Tokyo, 5R, 1800m, on 25 Oct.
Owner:"The trainer and I well know that he is not fully ready for the start at this stage and it would be better to delay the debut. That said, we believe in his potential, and, first of all, counting backward from being nominated for the classics next spring left us no option other than to let him go now." His latest workout was powerful and dynamic, easily overtaking an older horse. Weight: about 500kg.

2) Satono Crown, 2yo c, Marju x Jioconda (IRE) -- newcomers at Tokyo, 5R, 1800m, on 25 Oct.
His full sister is Lightening Pearl, the winner in 2011 Cheveley Park S (G1).

3) Earth Symphony, 2yo c, Unbridled's Song x Over Under (USA)-- newcomers at Kyoto, 5R, 1600m, on 25 Oct.

4) Army Barows, 2yo c, Manhattan Cafe x Unknown Waters (USA)-- newcomers at Kyoto, 5R, 2000m, on 26 Oct.

5) Tosen Gale, 2yo c, Deep Impact x Persistently (USA) -- newcomers at Kyoto, 5R, 2000m, on 26 Oct.
Lackluster in his workouts. In the latest workout, he worked with Shining Star, 2yo c, King Kamehameha x Shining Energy (USA). The latter, being forced his pace down in order for the stablemate to catch him up, seemed even awkward at running side by side.

(*) Foreign-bred 2yos
1) Stoneware (USA), 2yo c, Birdstone x Antique Auction --
2) Herbe d'Amour (USA), 2yo c, Unbridled's Song x Only First Class-- newcomers at Tokyo, 3R, 1600m(dirt), on 26 Oct

I forget to mention a new JRA star from a foreign-bred mare:
A Shin Hikari, 3yo colt, Deep Impact x Catalina (USA)

he's mellow at his stable, but once out on the track, he runs with all his strength・・・to the rail:

I know that the registries in different countries don't necessarily keep tabs on whether a name is already in use, but it should be noted that we now have two colts named Ontology. There's this 2yo Deep Impact and, here in California, a 3yo Tapit colt. :?

Yeah, you get a lot of that. There are actually two mares named Saywaan, one in the US and one in Australia, and Medaglia d'Oro bred both of them for 2011 foals, Sharp Neon (US) and Taqaseen (AUS)

How about this: two fillies, both born in 2011, both owned by Shadwell, both named Tawteen

Tawteen #1
Stratum (AUS) X Sprung (USA), by Grand Slam (USA)
Bred in Australia and trained in AUS by David Hayes and Tom Dabernig

Tawteen #2
Street Sense (USA) X Wid (USA), by Elusive Quality (USA)
Bred the USA and trained in England by John Gosden

There are 4horses named Kizuna- 2 are Japanese

One - a colt in Japan, who is doing very well- Graded Stakes Winner

The second, a filly here in the states- who runs in the higher claimer, lower allowance ranks

The third- also a filly- Irish bred- winner there

The first 3 are 2010 models

The last one I am assuming is a broodie in Japan- a 2004 model and unplaced in her career.

As a aside, I always found this fascinating- not the same name, but always being mixed up

Good Reward and Grand Reward

Both by Storm Cat
Both out of Champion mares
Both 2001 models
Both born in Kentucky
And, I think- both end up shuttling to South America and remaining (know for sure that Grand Reward is there.)

Oh I love Goodbye Halo. Sad that she is gone, but happy that she lived a long and seemingly happy life. Thank you for the update on her.

1) Amelie, 4yo m, Distorted Humor x Azeri (USA):

Next is 1600m Turf, R12, at Hanshin, on 27th Dec. An unexpected return to the turf racing in the JRA, with which she started her career, finishing 2nd, 10th, 3rd, and 5th (all 1400m). This might mean that her trainer has given up the prospect of her steadily stepping up the ladder to open class races on dirt. Hope the decision will turn out to be right. She will keep racing next year.

2) Tosen Gale, 2yo c, Deep Impact x Persistently (USA):

A stable mate to Amelie. His debut was far worse than was expected from his poor workouts, and some wondered why the trainer let him go with such insufficient preparations. He has now been back to Northern Farm. No information about his next run.

3) Rouge Buck, 2yo f, Manhattan Cafe x Ginger Punch (USA):

A key contender for the fillies classics next spring. Her trainer, a vet, skipped the championship for 2yo fillies, Hanshin Juvenile Fillies(G1), and decided to rest her for the rest of the season. Katsumi Ando, the ex-JRA jockey who turned to a racing commentator, referred to her as a major threat to the 2yo champion filly, Shonan Adela.

4) Red Kingdom, 5yo h, Deep Impact x Proud Beauty (IRE):

This 5yo horse has been relatively obscure until a few weeks ago because he had been unsuccessful as a flat runner. Relegated to remote NAR dirt racecourses because of poor performances in the JRA before grabbing just two super-minor races there, he eventually came back to the JRA turf racing, and yet kept losing. In total, zero win in his sixteen JRA flat races.

Not discouraged, his trainer tested him as a JRA jumper this April. After having lost three times, he finally broke her maiden as a jumper this August. Then came a rapid ascent to the top: winning Nakayama Daishogai (J-G1) on 20th Dec, defeating the reigning champion, Apollo Maverick (by Apollo Kingdom (USA)).

#6, yellow cap, red silks studded with white stars

His breeder is Hidetoshi Yamamoto; Mr Yamamoto also owns Spielberg (JPN), the winner of Tenno Sho autumn, and Casino Drive (USA). RK's trainer will manage Azeri's 2013 colt next year.

Shadai-bred Spielberg (JPN), out of Princess Olivia (USA), Flower Alley's half brother, has a plan to go to the Prince of Wales's Stakes (G1) at the Royal Ascot meeting 2015, Teruya Yoshida, the representative of Shadai Farm, told in a new year special interview. The pair of his owner and trainer, Mr Yamamoto and Kazuo Fujisawa, took Casino Drive to the Belmont Stakes (unraced due to an injury) and the BC Classic in 2008.

Rouge Buck, Manhattan Cafe x Ginger Punch, 2yo f, will be entered in Kisaragi Sho (G3) on 8th Feb. This race is for 2yos, and she will compete against some top 2yo colts, which suggests that the trainer is confident of her potential.

Also shown in the following video is Ginger Punch 2013 (colt by Deep Impact), taken in Dec 2014.

Donon Platina, 3yo c, 2yo champion colt, Deep Impact x Badeelah(USA; by Unbridled's Song), has a full sister; Badeelah 2013's owner turned out to be Yasuo Ikee, the trainer of Deep Impact, who privately bought the filly before her full brother made his debut. The filly will be trained by his son.
