For Claiborne
Algorithms - $7,500
Arch - $40,000
Blame - TBA
Data Link - $7,500
First Samurai - $15,000
Flatter - $20,000
Horse Greeley - $2,500
Orb - $25,000
Stroll - $5,000
Trappe Shot - $10,000
War Front - $150,000
as per Bloodhorse.
Although War Front has been performing better in the sales ring than on the track this year, I am somewhat surprised that they didn't raise it. Although if people have been paying $200,000+ to get in his small book I guess the listed price doesn't really matter.

Interesting that Blame is TBA. Waiting to see how the sales go?

Maybe Blame's fee will be determined after the Breeders' Cup, I suppose?
I wanna do bad things with you.

A lot of the farms do indeed wait until after the BC and the sales are over to set prices. I would assume that they have a figure in mind and make adjustments that they feel are warranted. To use a Nascar term- it's Silly Season- who stays, who goes, who is raised, who is discounted.

Smiling Tiger is a lot of talent for $5000, and although his sire (Hold That Tiger) hasn't been a big success at stud (I think he's been exported?) he was a top class runner by Storm Cat, so this one has something to offer, pedigree-wise.
I ran marathons. I saw the Taj Mahal by Moonlight. I drove Highway 1 in a convertible. I petted Zenyatta.

He was sold to France at the end of his Freshman year(2007) to replace High Yield who had died that year.Diver52 wrote:Smiling Tiger is a lot of talent for $5000, and although his sire (Hold That Tiger) hasn't been a big success at stud (I think he's been exported?) he was a top class runner by Storm Cat, so this one has something to offer, pedigree-wise.

I thought First Samurai and Flatter might get a bump up. They've had pretty good years.

I think First Samurai was kept where he was because he doesn't have many 2yos(33) or yearlings(16-17). Breeders did send a lot of mares to him last year and he has at least 85 weanlings. I don't know about this year, though that report should be coming out fairly soon. They were probably just hoping to keep his mare level up there.middleground wrote:I thought First Samurai and Flatter might get a bump up. They've had pretty good years.
Flatter is priced about where he should be, at least looking at the sire list, the other stallions around him are priced similarly.

I saw First Samurai at Claiborne last year as he was being shown to a breeder-- very square, solid horse. His only prominent offspring I think was Executive Privilege, but he looked very capable of siring a runner.

Most farms wont raise fees just because the first crop yearlings sell well. Selling and running are 2 different things.Izvestia wrote:I love that price for First Samurai, he is a good sire. It's a steal.
I also am surprised Trappe Shot stayed at $10,000, his yearlings sold really well.
I can promise you he will be tough to get to next year tho.

Winstar announced their 2015 stallion fees, but Kodiak Kowboy is not on their list.
Wonder if they are sending him elsewhere and are not ready to announce it. Kodiak Kowboy was listed as a stallion on Winstar's web site last week but as of today, he is no longer listed on their web site.

There is an export on file for him via JC. I really, really wish that the export would list the country and date of export.
ETA- Forgot that he did shuttle to Brazil- perhaps he stays?
