Let's liven our little group up with a contest! It's fantasy football season, so let's all draft a team. Grand prize is bragging rights! We all pick a roster of horses and whomever has the best sales results wins!

Rules:

Roster is made up of the following:
Book 1: 6 mares, 4 weanies (hips 1-446)
Book 2-6: any 5 horses out of each
Book 2 hips 447-1266
Book 3 hips 1267-2086
Book 4 hips 2087-2905
Book 5 hips 2906-3303
Book 6 hips 3304-4026
Total horses: 35 (edited from 30, apologies - I didn't math very well there)

If you pick an OUT horse, no refunds. If your horse RNAs, it does not count.

Tiebreaker: total sale $ amount

Ok, go!!!

My final numbers. It's hard doing this not seeing the horses, but I had fun going through all of the books. I do hope Jeranimo gets picked up for stallion duty, he really is a special guy.

And to add some spice to it:

**Take one drink every time you read an online comment that mentions "greedy" in reference to the owners of the fillies in this sale.

**Take two drinks every time someone mentions "Japan" or "Ferdinand" in reference to the buyers at this sale.

I am really going to have to cut myself off when it comes to reading online article comments

I noticed quite a few mares with Southern Hemisphere foaling dates., e.g., hips 1646 and 1380. I've never seen this before, or at least never in this quantity. The mares aren't in foal to shuttle stallions.

Is this a new marketing tactic, or a North American dispersal of an Aust./SA owner?

They are both owned by the same person. Equineline has the first mare, hip 1646, foaling in Iowa this year.

Definitely going to try to get in this contest, just keep forgetting to wade through the catalog and make a list.

Don't feel bad, still have not gone thru the list- I have an idea, though.

Just bumping this up for anyone who wants to play along. It's fun going through all the books and seeing some names you had possibly forgotten or some relatives of favorite horses.

It looks like nobody else played this. I had two very nice horses "sell" for me - Naples Bay at $3.6 million and the $3million Tapit-Serena's Cat filly.
Keeneland is hot-hot-hot right now. I can't remember the last time it's top seller was higher than Fasig Tipton's.

I wanted to play but I was stunted by the size of the catalog. I got to hip 300 and ran out if time. I think the last time that Keeneland top price beat FT was probably the year Royal delta sold unless havre de grace also sold in 2011. I can't remember....

My least favorite thing... the RNA (0). Poor Hip 2192, Tizway x Burning Faith (Cat Thief). I'm sure you're a sweet boy.

That breaks my heart when I see that, not one bid.
