http://bloodstock.racingpost.com/news/b ... y/1715207/The disorder, which has left the 16-year-old severely lame on his right foreleg, means he is unlikely to be able to fulfill his southern hemisphere breeding commitments for the season, which began on Monday.

From Bloodhorse:
The Racing Post, which first reported the problem, said the stallion is "severely lame in his right foreleg."
"It's an ongoing lameness issue that has been really troubling the horse for a couple of weeks now," Darley Australia managing director Henry Plumptre told the newspaper. "It's not an obvious problem, more of a nerve issue. It's not like a fracture or an abscess that can be easily diagnosed, and it's not in an area that we can MRI. We're just throwing treatments at him at the moment and looking for improvement.
"He was marginally better this week but had a slight relapse this morning. We're doing everything we can to get him over the hump and back to good health."

I hope they can find the source of the lameness and heal him. This horse has given us many great runners, from a Kentucky Derby winner to a Melbourne Cup victor. And, of course, Zenyatta.

Don't really like the tone of that report. Sounds mighty tentative. Hoping for the best...

I hate to read this. Even if they are able to get him better, it seems hard to imagine that he will ever return to the United States. Traveling 17 hours on a plane has got to be hard on a healthy horse, much less one with neurological problems. Seems like the stress and inability to move around for such a long period might cause these conditions or bring a relapse.

An Australian source first reported the problem. Wish I could remember which one.BaroqueAgain1 wrote:From Bloodhorse:

A small detail, but that kind of thing bugs me. (No issue with the posters here; that's a BH error for citing it in that fashion)

Same here. I was so excited when they retired him to stud in the US and his immediate success was just icing on the cake.Allspice wrote:I was a huge fan of his when he was running, he was one of those horses that showed up every time.
Its extremely sad that he is gone already. His sire died young as well, at age 17, I was a fan of him and his siblings too.
