it doesn't bother me, and never said it did. mostly i was just agreeing that were she any other horse, no one would be trying to figure out why she isn't running better. barbaro's brothers were the same way, and my feelings were similar - they just aren't as good as their sibling. no shame in that, happens all the time. eb does have her own thread though, we (meaning myself included) should try to keep stuff like this in that thread.Life At Zen wrote:People are interested in why she's running bad because she showed some decent talent in her first two starts. Ever since the Shuvee disaster she's hit a brick wall far before her distance capabilities and people are asking the obvious question - why? Maybe she has a mental or physical disability. Maybe she has no more interest in running. Or maybe she peaked already and is just a crap runner now. Who knows. The fun is dissecting it.

The dam had a Henrythenavigator filly (in Turkey) this year. She isn't on the BC nomination page for 2015 so I would guess she is still over there. However, the Jockey Club site is down so I can't look on there.BaroqueAgain1 wrote:I'd love to know the story behind how that filly got back to the States after being sold (in utero, I think?) to Turkey. Did someone go after her (waving an open wallet?) after Shared Belief won his Eclipse? Is the dam back as well?

Common Hope has not been sent back. She is 17, so I'd think the financial benefits of bringing her back here for sale would be significantly lower than if she were younger.Flanders wrote:The dam had a Henrythenavigator filly (in Turkey) this year. I don't know why people feel to need to continue to point out "oh well if she wasn't related to anyone like Zenyatta no body would care". She is the half sister to one of the greatest mares ever so there is an extra interest in her. The if's are irrelevant. Not only that, but she did look pretty good in her first two starts so of course people are going to wonder why she went from showing potential to looking like she can't beat a mule with 3 legs.sweettalk wrote:it doesn't bother me, and never said it did. mostly i was just agreeing that were she any other horse, no one would be trying to figure out why she isn't running better. barbaro's brothers were the same way, and my feelings were similar - they just aren't as good as their sibling. no shame in that, happens all the time. eb does have her own thread though, we (meaning myself included) should try to keep stuff like this in that thread.Life At Zen wrote:People are interested in why she's running bad because she showed some decent talent in her first two starts. I'm interested in how her Turkish-born filly made it into Hollendorfer's barn, unless that was part of the deal of the mare's sale... which would be kinda weird, but who knows.mariasmon wrote:Common Hope has not been sent back. Hollendorfer is a pretty savvy guy. I wouldn't be surprised if he put together a partnership and made an offer on the filly after he recognized that he had a talent on his hands in Shared Belief.BlindLucky wrote:I'm interested in how her Turkish-born filly made it into Hollendorfer's barn, unless that was part of the deal of the mare's sale... which would be kinda weird, but who knows.mariasmon wrote:Common Hope has not been sent back. I'm nervously awaiting our filly's debut today in race 8 at Belterra. Storm Bank is a 3 yr old filly by Stormy Atlantic out of Bankstriss, who is a half-sister to Left Bank. She's pretty gigantic, so they've taken their time with her. She'll probably end up on turf at Churchill this fall, but for now she just needs a race.
So now that I mention this, she'll totally tank today I'm sure

What a handsome girl, and that's a very nice pedigree. Good luck and safe race to Storm Bank.

Classic Romance (Circular Quay x Candlelightdinner), the 2-yr-old half-sister to Musical Romance, was 3rd in the 5th race at Gulfstream today (a MSW at 1 1/16 on the turf). Like her sister, she's trained by Bill Kaplan.

Whew! After she broke through the gate while they were loading, I was sure she was done for. But she had the lead until late stretch and stayed on for 2ndBlindLucky wrote:I'm nervously awaiting our filly's debut today in race 8 at Belterra. A little. This is her as a yearling, she's even more fiery red now and has an attitude to matchStarine wrote:Congrats on the runner-up finish, BL. I was a fan of Left Bank so I will be following your filly closely. She's a good-looking girl, too. Any white on her face?
