Word is that ...
Facoltoso
Was put down after pulling up in his race at Santa Anita last Sunday ... I do not know what his injury was.
He was Great Britain bred and ran the first 13 races of his career in Italy before continuing his racing career in Southern California on July 18, 2012.
He ran in Stakes in both Italy and California. He was only 4 and has left us way too soon. He was a very striking colt. A damn shame ...
Career Statistics:
Starts: 21
Firsts: 5
Seconds: 4
Thirds: 2
Earnings: $118,609

In retrospect, it sure as Hell seems like they had no business bringing him back. This sucks.

Formulaforsuccess apparently died of cardiac arrest while being pulled up in the stretch during the third at Belmont today.

Afrashad, are you sure about Cape Verdi? I've been checking the news sites (like Racingpost) for news about his death, but have found nothing so far.

Trained by Rudy Rodriguez. Not a fan to put it mildly. Would NEVER have a horse with him. He's the devil as far as I'm concerned. RIP and sorry for who trained you.WaquoitNBroadBrush wrote:Formulaforsuccess apparently died of cardiac arrest while being pulled up in the stretch during the third at Belmont today.

Darley/Godolphin doesn't generally release death notices for their broodmares. I would believe Afrashad that she is gone. RIP to a very impressive 1000 Guineas winner.BaroqueAgain1 wrote:Afrashad, are you sure about Cape Verdi? Dullahan was one of the most gorgeous horses I've been around in... forever. RIP, big guy

So shocking. For a horse who had never had problems with colic as a racehorse to develop a fatal rupture so suddenly...it's confounding, and tragic.
